Ukraine Crisis
The gov is restricting access to statistical data, so, hard to predict anything.Emmson wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:22 pmEven before the invasion Russia's demographics were in very bad shape, this insane war must be rendering them into a pitiful state.

And how the f those poor, hunted, exhausted people gonna change the regime?? I don't get this ill hypocritical logic.Kai wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:28 pmSame difference, there is no opposition. They've all been jailed, exiled, bankrupt, silenced or killed.
Russian people have no voice whatsoever, they are being systematically depoliticized and forcibly conscripted.
There is only one regime and replacing one cult leader with another doesn't solve anything.
Bleeding them dry of resources is the only approach that seems to be working.
Here is a joke:
Father comes home from work.
- I was fired...
- So now you will drink less?
- No!!! now you will eat less!
In our case "eat less" means the people (NOT THE RULING CLASS) gonna suffer from the lack of medicine, food and etc. And, at the maximum of this ill hypocritical logic, if dehumanizing racist obscurantists will win in your countries, there will be a preemptive nuclear strike on us that does not distinguish whether you are poor or rich, for or against the regime!!
These are simple facts, whether you want to accept them or not. But good to hear you agree that regime needs changing, because if you were a Putin apologist any discussion would be pointless.
I don't have the answers, I'm not sure anyone does at this point, geopolitics is my least favorite subject, but history usually does have some answers?? If you can't do your own Euromaidan revolution then you may have to let nature take its course and hope that someone like Medvedev doesn't take over after Putin passes away. Historically that is how large empires fell apart, would only take one region to separate before it all came crumbling down, remember how USSR collapsed, and what is the regime going to do, nuke their own people into submission?
We don't even know if the West really wants Putin gone, if they wouldn't be able to predict or control the fallout afterwards. Maybe it's a safer bet to try and control and contain him by denying him any military objectives, then let him spin this however he likes, if he stays in power his influence will severely diminish because he failed so spectacularly on the battlefield.
And these economic sanctions may not be enough of a deterrent for Putin but they sure AF could be enough of a deterrent for China if they planned a similar invasion, if they took the island and expected to remain the economic powerhouse that they are. So, similarly with Russian resources, the less we all depend on Chinese good and services the safer we'll all be.
One last thing...napshnap wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 7:14 amHere is a joke:

That's actually an interesting example there, why do you think your people drink themselves to death? I've seen the data and your demographics, it's shocking. Could it be that drinking is their copium because they realize they live in a dystopian society that doesn't value their life. You're literally fighting an enemy that cares more about the well-being of your soldiers and mobiks than your regime does, there is something fundamentally wrong with this concept.
Can't keep playing the hypocrisy card, the simple fact is that your country is threatening global security because an old man wants to be remembered before he dies.
So that argument would sound better if you were from one of those poor regions, but if you're from the Moscow or Saint Petersburg regions then your life is good and you have nothing to complain about, will never rise up against your Tzar, because you exploit all the poor regions and ethnicities around you. Because that's what large empires do. While they last that is.
No agenda here but this doc on what it's like to be Ukrainian fighter has moments that are enlightening. But for me it's so depressing that this stuff is happening in Europe. I though Bosnia was an anomaly. How wrong can you be?

That doesn't explain why the Scots drink themselves to death.Kai wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 1:44 pmThat's actually an interesting example there, why do you think your people drink themselves to death? That's the sort of training that I would excel at, standing in a field next to an armoured vehicle.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 1:43 pmPicture was taken this morning of 300 Ukraine soldiers being trained in the UK.

There not wearing Balaclava's becuase its cold, their Ukranian after all. It's because they being trained to fight behind Russian lines and disrupt and infiltrate supply chains. Also means Russian troops will have to keep an eye on what's happening behind them as well as in front.
Watchng their rear is already happening. An increasing number of Russians are being conscripted by Putin and pushed into jeopardy, while he sits in the (relative) safety of the Presidential residences.

IF Ukraine gets all it needs in the next couple of weeks then I cant see any way Russia will win on the battlefield using convential weapons. At some point he will know that he can't be humilated any further. That's the time when he is very likely to do something very stupid and convince himself that I am fighting the West/NATO and need to use overwelming force.
