Grimsby penalty took about 5 mins for VAR to sort it out. Handball maybe offside who knows with VAR

Good grief 2-0. Apparently via a stupid tackle giving away a pen.
Selles said he'd "play with a team that could easily start in the Premier League".
Looking pretty unrealistic right now. Dire to say the least.

First pen was an iffy is it / isn't it handball. Second pen was incredibly soft. Only shots on target for Grimsby, not really in the game.

1st 15 min or so they were well on top, Grimsby hardly touched the ball but they grew into the game. 2-1 now I see I hope they can hold on. Southampton are bang in trouble on and off the pitch.

Grimsby beat Southampton 2-1 this evening, despite creating just 0.04 non-penalty xG.

Saints still 1.36 for relegation, which I reckon is good value.

I rate Kostas Tsimikas, I think he should start more often than he does

A bit stupid to lash out like that, but the ref/VAR should have noticed the pointless push to the shoulder that preceded it and netted them off. For sure, that reaction to the slap deserves an Oscar. VAR fails again eh?

Can't really fault a penalty been given there imo

I guess in the modern era you are correct. But having played the game till i was 52 a pointless shove from behind is weirdly one of the most aggravating fouls. It achieves no advantage other than to wind up the recipient of the shove. That was the objective of the shove - annoyance. And Duje Caleta-Car fell for it. But I think it should have been treated like a "handbags" moment. But that's a personal opinion.

It's about time there was retrospective punishment for feigning fouls or injury.
