I'm strugging to see how the Tories can win the next election. No realistic alternative could be any worse. Labour? Lib/Lab pact? etc etc. Oh Con/Lib pact but we've been there before and it was pretty crap. We couldn't fall for that again - could we?

Pre election budget whereby tax threshold is raised to £15,000. People moan and march but have short memories and become fickle when they mistakingly believe they just got a pay rise and more money in their pockets. It will go down in history as the budget giveaway of the century. Many will even temporarily forget about the NHS, Education and Social care. What was that ABBA song, money money money……….

IMO leaving one party in control for years is like allowing a garden to do what it likes. Doesn''t work. It needs regular attention, pruning, sometimes seemingly severe hacking back.nurturing. Just alllowing a government to womble on is ridiculous.

Greenmark - We might be at war by then and/or most of us dead. On a serious note, don’t forget the boundary changes coming in. And don’t forget, if something were to happen to Mr Starmer then many people who are undecided but leaning his way may well pause and reevaluate. Sometimes there can be dark forces at play in Westminster. Only needs a scandal or a so called right wing extremist who gets lucky or maybe an ex serviceman gets a bundle of cash to do a job at his majesties governments behest and disappears or falls out of a window later on.

 Such an optimistic prospect. But on a serious note, the govt (covid vaccines aside) have failed and continue to fail. HS2 (the flagship infrastructure project that has already cost billions and will cost billions more for limited benefit other than construction company profits) has been delayed because we can't afford it. This country is going down the pan under over a decade of an "entrepreneurial" regime. How thick do we have to be to vote them in again?

Don't forget Sunak as chancellor giving away billions to anyone who wants it.

If a benefit claimant is overpaid £400 through no fault of his own it's quickly clawed back. If it was fraud it would make the Daily Mail's front page. If the claimant was a single mother that gets mentioned as if it's relevant and if she's a single mother of 3 to 3 different fathers that gets added to the charges.

But hard-working taxpayers can steal six-figure sums with not a care in the world. There was even someone on here that pinched £25K and was publicly asking for advice about it - that's how untouchable they are!

If the Beeb back down, and it looks likely, I can't see the director general carrying on in his job.

I'd like to see Buffoon Boris or Loony Liz as the new chief. I've never in my life purchased a TV licence so they can pay the buffoon whatever he wants for all I care.

What do you mean?

Not purchasing a TV licence doesn't require any action.

Apology expected, not from Lineker but to Lineker!!

Truss may have been a disastrous PM but she would be perfect for a top job at the BBC.

Tory's -3 points and Labour +4 and a 23 point lead (Deltapoll) Sunak realized there was only going to be one winner in the Lineker debate and tried to say the right thing but it was to late his MP's had already swung into action baying for blood from the BBC and the damage was done.

Lineker 1 - 0 Tories.

So, the extra £5 billion the treasury got now looks like will be gone bailing out some banks and companies associated with the on-going banking crisis across the pond.

Budget should be interesting, + £5 billion one week, - £5 billion the following week.

Glad I'm not in government!!!

Gary has simply called the Tory's out for what they are the absolute the scum of the earth, incompetent, racist, corrupt with not one ounce of compassion in them.
Someone's been getting a bit too worked up reading their Daily Star
