Classic firlandsfarm.
Made me chuckle but I would have to leap to the defence of the ambulance service. Man-handling a 15 stoner down 2 floors of spiral staircase is a challenge for 2 big blokes never mind 1 big bloke and an average build lassie.
And they do care about their job. We bumped into both over the next few months and they remembered him and asked how he was doing.
It was a time when they were more like 'Ambulance Drivers' than para-medics. As I said it was in the office which was deserted because there was only two of us tasked with starting a new department. I reported my 'condition' to the designated First-Aid Officer (my fellow co-worker was at lunch). She arrived with a small box that contained a box of Elastoplast's and bandages! I told her she would need more than that! She didn't know what to do and went for help but I was getting worse so I called for an ambulance myself. The 999 operator took down the details and asked exactly where I was to which I said ABC House, XYZ Road, Croydon, 4th floor North Wing. The operator asked for the name on the office door. I said there is no name. He responded that he couldn't send an ambulance until I told him exactly where I was! This went on to-and-fro for a few minutes when I broke the deadlock by saying (verbatim) "Look, I'll do you a deal ... you promise you will send an ambulance immediately and I will promise I will call the building reception and tell them I have ordered for an ambulance". He agreed to this. Interestingly the 'regular' ambulance arrived some 15 minutes before the specialist cardiac arrest unit, talk of wasted resources!

After the exchange with the doctor I mentioned in a previous comment the hospital staff asked if there was someone I would like them to contact I said "No, let me call my wife, it would be better if she heard my voice". This happened on a Wednesday and wife and I were due to go to a wedding on the Saturday that we were not looking forward to so they found a phone that was mobile (this was before mobile phones) and I called her and said I had the perfect excuse for us not to attend the wedding! :) ... what did she do, she came to visit me but only after she went home first, watered the house plants and fed the cats!!!

The whole thing was a farce and could have easily have been turned into an episode of Faulty Towers.

Commenting about Britains new trade deal with the Indo-Pacific, Kemi Badenoch says its a great deal and there is "Strength in numbers" .
Quite amazing words from the people who convinced the nation to the leave the biggest and most successful trading bloc in the world, the EU

And the committee that would scrutinise the deal was abolished last week. Wonder if that was a coincidence.

And with good reasons! The absurd policies coming from the EU around our tiny British island and the the unfit-for-purpose ECHR being just one of many. The new trade deal is indeed a good thing, with none of the downsides of the EU.

What elements of EU membership caused you the most concern ?

"Last night, the government announced that Britain has joined a trade deal so contentious that it united Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in opposition to US membership.

While hardcore Brexiters would like to pretend this is the ultimate payoff of our decision to leave the EU and write our own rules, the reality is somewhat different. In signing the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Britain has ditched environmental standards, signed up to terms that will undermine British farmers, and left us open to being sued by multinational corporations in secretive courts. And all for no real economic benefit.

And all of this in the absence of evidence that the deal will boost jobs or growth. By the government’s own estimates, the deal will add a mere 0.08% of GDP after running for about 10 years – a number so small as to be meaningless in the uncertain world of economic predictions."

Celebrating leaving the EU only to join the Indo Pacific trade deal is like storming out of the Ritz, only to stumble into a Wetherspoons .......

Can't say I know the detail but at an instinctive level that made me chuckle and probably does represent my (lll-informed) opinion. For me Brexit is looking worse and worse. And I don't want to say "we told you", I'd prefer us all to get together and make it work. Most of all i feel sorry for the NI unionists.
They are being cast adrift.
This could come back to bite us.

Agreed, I couldn't have described the EU more succinctly and you are of course entitled to your opinion on the other matters and I will defend your right to have one, even when it is wrong! :)

 very amusing but it also demonstrates a lack of understanding of the difference between an 'agreement' where you are dictated to by those you did not elect and one where you all work together for the common good. Wait, isn't that how the Common Market started? Shame it lost it's way over the years.

Since 2016 our economy has flat-lined compared to other similar economies. The Brexit "benefit" has yet to emerge. The Brexit "drag" is palpable, reports of people affected by it and they're pretty p***ed off. Their business's have been pushed to the edge by supply chain issues and bureaucracy.
"Taking control" is a lie.

Jesus people, stop moaning about brexit, it happened, get over it. Blame the politicians but most of all blame the over 60s who voted for it.

Done deal, even Labour won’t reverse it. Lib Dem’s might try too if they win the keys to No 10 but the EU would them over a barrel. Yes you can rejoin but on out terms like you left. There is some dispute as to would we ever be allowed to as wouldn’t meet the criteria plus wouldcould we offer anyway ?

It’s done, move on and be more worried about where the Nukes are going to fall etc…

"Taking control" was not a lie, "not taking advantage" is the truth bought about by those who still do not accept the result of the referendum and fight it every step and a Government who either doesn't want what the people gave them or is too scared to act upon it. It's a shame that Remoaners cannot act honourably, accept they lost and work from the revised common good.
