I'm also investigating the Lay to back strategy after watching the automation video on BetAngelTV. I don't have access to the timeform data but today some data is free from Inform.
Looking at Doncaster 13:35 it shows

Am I correct in thinking that this shows for example that Captain Haddock was fast initially (lto1 = 1) and then slowed down to a midfield position (Lto2 =3) (Lto3=3) quite quickly in the race?
So I'm I correct in thinking as the race starts his odds are likely to come drop ('come in'?) and then go up again (drift?) which would be an ideal candidate for Peter's L2B strategy detailed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN1WkDSNkrU&t=629s
Peter also mentions adding some conditions, but I can't seem to find a video on adding conditions to the Lay To Back rule. I'm thinking some conditions around the selected horse being within an odds range of the favourite maybe good to ensure there is money in the market for the back. So at the moment the odds on Capt. Haddock are 7.6 and the fav is at Star Angel @ 5.7. That suggests to me (although I know nothing! lol) that people will bet on Capt. Haddock as the race starts. But if Capt. Haddock drifted a lot, to say near 20 before the race starts, there would be less money on him, the lay might get taken, but then if he improved the back might not get taken and I would have a huge liability?
Many thanks in advance to those that take their time to answer yet another newbee question from me!
