Irrespective of your opinion on a popular newspaper, this report is hardly 'speculation', nor is it 'out of date'. It's confirming a move that hasn't yet been announced!

Did you even read it before dismissing it? And if so, how did you arrive at the conclusion it's out of date speculation?

I posted up something similar a while ago as a better solution than the one where they wanted your inside legs measurements and evidence of your lineage going back to the tudors times.

There were some articles published last year (in the Racing Post I believe) where 'soft' credit checks were being proposed if a customer lost a certain amount over a certain period. I think there's a thread on here somewhere about it which gives more details. I recall in the thread there was discussion among our members as to what constituted a 'soft' credit check and whether that was even legal.

If I understand correctly banks and other financial institutions already do these type of checks on us without our knowledge prior to advising us that we qualify for a loan, credit card or overdraft. I think these soft checks don't go into too much detail but can alert the checker as to whether someone is bankrupt, has ccjs or an IVA.

Since betting companies refuse to adhere to current guidelines resulting in an endless series of meaningless fines, soft checks would change nothing.
