CPI or RPI makes no difference like most they've been underpaid for years .
They are different figures, computed differently with different rates How can it be said there is no difference?

Paying some £14 an hour to perform operations is disgusting
Only first year JD's are at that rate and they do not perform operations ... more misinformation from the left!
I was merely stating that no mater what index you compute both show they've been underpaid.

See my previous post another reason junior doctors are on strike is there being put under pressure due to shortages to do more than there permitted to do putting patients at risk including the £14 per hour ones (absolutely criminal any junior doctor is paid this rate)

This misinformation is not from the left and come's from the junior doctors who are fighting for fair pay, better working conditions and safer patient care.
£28k (albeit after 5years of education and training) + overtime + unsocial hours + weekends + on call is not insignificant.
But 35% increase as a headline in the current "cost of living crisis" is going to p**s off so many people that doctors will squander all that respect earned before and during covid.
I once had a 25% increase but it was because I moved from junior to next step IT person. That took me to average wage.Where are these doctors gonna go? Few people can afford them. The state is the only realistic paymaster..

I would rather pay my private health insurance the big bucks.

For £1,200 per year I get the following:

- No more GP referral letters.
- Video call within 24 hours by a doctor.
- Appointment at private clinic/hospital with consultant within 48 hours if needed.
- Calls are answered within 4 minutes on average.
- Any treatment or operation handled by private hospitals.
- Prescriptions are emailed within 4 hours to my nearest pharmacy.
- Cancer referrals within 7 days.
- Any stay in hospital pays me £100 per night.

I had an operation 3 months ago. Stayed for 3 nights. Huge room with Sky TV. Accidentally pulled the wrong cord in the bathroom and within a couple of minutes 2 nurses were in my room checking I was ok. 🤠

- No waiting in a phone queue for hours.
- No waiting in a corridor for hours.
- No doctor telling me to take 2 paracetamol and chill out.
- No over weight nurse telling me I should go on a diet (you looked in the mirror lately luv.
- No gobby receptionist putting the phone down on me.

Basically, best money outgoing I have apart from my porn channel subscriptions.

If they want a 35% pay rise then change profession and become a London tube driver, the worlds your oyster.

The only thing is I would like a reduction in my state NI deductions. Only fair me thinks ?

🤠

And the Tories claim that Labour don't know how to manage an economy 🙄

'The UK is set to be one of the worst performing major economies in the world this year, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

It says the UK economy's performance in 2023 will be the worst among the 20 biggest economies, known as the G20, which includes sanctions-hit Russia'

And what would Labour do, sell off the rest of our gold reserves like they sold 50% of it last time around or borrow more money on the international markets ?

Closing the loopholes and taxing energy companies more that they talk about would raise a maximum of £17 Billion. Enough to give public sector workers a 22% pay rise. But that’s only 1/3 of the story. How you going to fund £800 billion the country needs over 1 parliament.

Shake that money tree ?

And what would happen if there were anymore global crisis

When was one of these forecasts last accurate? And when we were the fastest growing economy a few years ago why wasn't there all this noise about how good we were? It's just "think of a criticism and shout it loudly" politics driven by the LL who run and present current affairs media.

They'll go to the private sector like most are currently doing hence the massive shortages in the NHS that they can't fill

I dont know exactly what Labour would do, but after 13 years of the same party maybe its worth finding out. After all, what would the Torys do if they got re-elected, nearly tank the economy with another Kamikaze budget? Our international borrowing costs have skyrocketed under the Conservatives

Ah I see you bought the old "fastest growing economy" line from a few years ago, and to be shouted from the rooftops like Boris used to do. It was a favourite of the right wing media all right so I can see how you might have got excited. The truth of it was however that the UK was only "fastest growing" because we had tanked so much during Covid and Brexit, so we were still behind most other large economies in real terms.

Sunak was asked if it's true he doesn't want child sex abusers to go to prison. He avoided the question, didn't deny it and referred to his five promises.

If the nation can't see the need for change I despair!
Of dear, change for the sake of change! Who is to say the recently proven to be immoral, lying Labour will be any better/different?
I'd trust Betfair to run the country better than the present government. :P

I have to admire your sense of humour, calling Labour liars in the wake of Johnson.

Ah I see you bought the old "slowest growing economy" line from the current bandwagon of doom being shouted from the rooftops by the LL media. It is a favourite of the left wing media all right so I can see how you are getting excited. The truth of it is however that the UK is only "slowest growing" because we have grown more than others since Covid, so we were still ahead of most other large economies in real terms. Oh BTW I see you forget to include German in your 'tanking' claims. Aren't they the economy to copy?

And when was one of these forecasts last accurate? I heard on the news this morning in comment to the latest IMF forecast for the UK that of the last 28 forecasts they have issued 25 have underestimated the UK 's performance but never mind, I know you will wheel out any random pessimistic forecast, shout about it and go very quiet when the doom and gloom doesn't materialise. That's the left media for you!

Compare FTSE to Dow or european stock markets. FTSE has flat-lined (ignore the covid, ukraine troughs) since 2016. The other stock markets have recovered and continued on an upward trajectory. You can't deny that Brexit is holding us back. The truth of Brexit remains to be seen. I would love the UK to soar on the new found freedom of Brexit, but as time goes on it's looking less and less like a good idea. But there is no point being a grumpy remoaner I just want the UK to succeed regardless of the political landscape.
