Wow, only dipping back in after a break and was baffled by the previous posts. I'm a bit stunned how they managed to end up with a draw. I'm no Uinted hater but I was listening on radio and it all sounded hunky dory! I would not like to be a player in that changing room with Erik.
If you've not seen the match this guy paints a pretty good picturegreenmark wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 10:32 pmWow, only dipping back in after a break and was baffled by the previous posts. Ooooookkkaaayyy! Just watched the whole lot in all it's expletive ridden ranting glory. I would still suggest that it's best to keep all that stuff inside your head. Better still - get therapy!
Is over £100 miillion on one player going to help LFC? We talk about Milly and Hendo and now VVD being in or approaching the twilight of their careers. But you've got TAA who is now a targetted weakness, Thiago who's only use is as a supreme attacking passer and when he doesn't LFC are like a human without a torso. and we've let Firmino go, brought in a striker that can't score and also have now one of the most well paid strikers on the planet that, since he acquired that contract, has become so 2nd rate he can't even score a penalty.
Don't think so, if they realized that squad problems run much deeper. The imbalance and gap between old and young players is too large. Key players have zero competition which is another imbalance. Imbalance off the pitch as well, the club needs a sporting director ASAP, it's a hot mess right now.
And this Bellingham obsession made no sense to me from the start, I don't get it. Generational talent looks like but what the hell are Gerrard, Carra and pundits thinking when they kept begging him to come at every opportunity. Even Hendo and Trent kept feeding this narrative with their social media posts about Jude, and the fanbase ate it all up believing there is only one true saviour. Even I eventually started believing it. I assumed maybe there was a gentlemen's agreement behind the scenes or something, heard rumours of contract clauses to captain LFC within a few years (future England captain too?) because otherwise everyone would look like absolute idiots when he ends up at a rival.
I just don't see how the club could afford him, Dortmund didn't want to sell before the World Cup, then club sale rumours surfaced and got squashed so that became even more unlikely. Then, top 4 was out of sight which means even less money available to spend now. The players that are leaving are all leaving on a free etc, can't generate any real money from sales and many new players are needed. I just don't see how club can end up in such a naive position, after being so shrewd previously.

And I can't disagree. After yonks of being on the fringe of excellence we've had a good (even excellent) few years and the success of your team is a drug that's hard to give up.
