Every sensible person knew Brexit was going to be a disaster. The EU was never going to give the UK a good deal. It’s not in their interests to.

It is what it is. Stop flipping moaning about it. It’s done and main reason the UK will be poor for many decades to come. Who flipping cares anyway.

I knew exactly what I was voting for and paid no attention to the miracle bus or what was put in the press.

Like I said, me and many others just don’t give a toss.
I really think you should care. That's what make democracy the best system we have. Have an opinion, shout it loud, just don't turn to violence.

I retire next April to Canada with my private pension pot and 4 bedroom remote lodge left to me by my uncle.

I shall be sitting there overlooking Lake Ontario, sipping my G&T without a care in the world and probably laughing at/about the UK.

People really should stop talking about Great Britain. That term is a reference to the last century and for many it wasn’t that GREAT either. Funny how all those 12,13,14 year olds were mistaken for being adults, sign here lad, take the shilling, we and your family won’t see you again, slap on the back, off you go son.

Some things never change. Governments don’t really give a toss. The citizen/people are there to pay taxes and do as their told. Nothing more, nothing less.

I certainly won’t be working past 55 whatever bribes the government is thinking of offering.

Served my country, paid my taxes, off to better things. Will I care ermmmmmmm NO.

Of the two posts above one is a perfect example of someone continually complaining that democracy didn't go their way and instead of accepting the vote and doing their best to make it work they are continually challenging it. Why? Because they have to be right and anything they disagree with has to be wrong.. But what did they expect. The more intelligent remainer elite was outvoted by the less intelligent 'normal' people and I understand the frustration this must create in them, I get it every time I read about how KS is going to save the country but can't tell us how. For example if KS was in charge there would be no boat problem, there would be no strikes, inflation would be back below 2%, interest rates would be likewise back to 2% and how will this be so while controlling the economy, exchange rates etc.? Simple, KS said it will be so, so it will be.

Michael5482, if you want to know who is responsible for your current ills it's simple ... just go back to when the Common Market became the EU and it was no longer about just trade. I am more than happy to be in a common market, I want to be in a common market. I want to trade with our neighbours but the price of having them in control over us is too high.

The other post is in direct contrast. It is the pragmatic view of looking forward and not crying backwards. Sulking will not solve the current problems. What will solve them is all of us working together to make the most of what we have. And that means the strong unions should not greedily grab the most they can at the expense of employees in weaker positions

BTW I've not knowingly met a "left wing idiot vampire".

Love it and wish you all the best ... I've been retired for 23 years and what I love the most is doing what I want when I want and that includes a G&T on the terrace and not a house nor a human in sight (wife excluded!) just the wild deer, the buzzards calling overhead, the pheasants looking to see what the birds have dropped from the feeders, the bats going out for their overnight life and the neighbour's peacocks and peahens strutting past ... only thing missing is a moose! :D

I once received a call on Christmas Day from a second cousin living in Toronto asking me why I don't go over to visit.

She later said it was -27°C outside with 40 mph winds!!

Yes but have to get special planning permission as the area is protected and designated crown land.

Your chance of surviving heart attacks, strokes, cancer etc actually depends on who is in power!

Erm. Isn't the most salient word on that graph "covid"? Even the govt no longer factor 2020 etc into their long term figures because they are so skewed by covid. Thats just my analysis (which could well be wrong).

There would only have been a third of the Covid deaths had Labour been in power. :)
