What are your experiences of trading and meditation?
All I'd say is meditation does work. It gives your mind a 20 minute rest and day by day that adds up to increased calm and clairty of thought.
I'm sure there are people reading this now and chuckling. But I've used both transcendental and metta bhavana and it does work, but don't ask me how.

Cultivating mindfulness is probably more relevant and life enhancing generally. Mediation is a stress reliever but controlling your mind and emotions and staying 'present' will probably mean you won't get stressed enough to need it. The fact you've even mentioned it means that you're conscious of needing to control your inner 'chimp brain' (not a personal insult

There's a notion from Taoism that I feel is appropriate to trading....
If one tried too hard to attain a certain want, the law of reverted effort would start to operate and as a result, the effect would be the exact opposite of that desired.

Yes, good point. Meditation isn't a sticking plaster, it's a way life. If you only meditate to deal with negative emotions you will always associate meditation with negative emotions. It really is something that needs to be as routine as, er.... showering. It's that mundane but it's much more useful than it appears. And those around you tend to notice the change in your demeanour more than you do.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 12:55 pmCultivating mindfulness is probably more relevant and life enhancing generally. But if anyone 'neeeeeds' meditation to stop them being a nervous wreck then they're probably in the wrong job.
