I just think it's a case of Trent being too good for the rightback position, similar to how Gareth Bale was simply too good to continue as a leftback, if you remember his breakout performance against Inter where he absolutely demolished Maicon.

It was a bit funny at times but also pure joy to watch Trent operating as a regista in front of the defence, as that deep-lying playmaker, seems to really enjoy himself. Although I think he would be even better as a number 8 in a more box-to-box role on the right side, instead of playing as a 6, because we all know how devastating he can be in the final third making that killer pass and I'm not sure you really want to take his incredible crosses away from his game. That is what's missing for me, from this image below, more crosses in general.

He's made one of those penetrating midfield runs as an 8 for the first goal I think, that was maybe his only cross this game and it was the easiest tap in for Gakpo, I want to see more of these bursting runs forward.

Fabrizio Romano said LFC are in the market for a fullback, so hopefully this positional switch happens long-term, or worst case a hybrid role. Either way can't wait to see more.

Certainly his body language suggested he enjoyed the role more than being a right back, where he was being targetted by the opponent and only able to ploughing a furrow up the right when the opportunity presents.
I guess it now looks obvious. He's a creative with lesser defensive ablities. Makes sense to exploit that creativity. Not sure Thiago is too thrilled about it though.

Not for the first time this season, Chelsea could really use a goal here

6 top class forwards on the bench

Should of scored 1st they had a couple of very good chances before Real scored.

Dammed if you don't wait, and dammed if you do wait making attacking subs especially v Real. Considering the form Chelsea are in I think they've played as well as expected always an uphill task for them.

Not sure how benching all your forwards for a match like this helps their confidence

Their best chances fell to Kante and Cucurella

Maybe his strikers just want an easy domestic season next year. No european travel clogging up their plans. OK, no Champions league bonuses, but if you're paid so much why would you bother. Too much effort, nah!

They will really need to getting everything sorted for the next season. Can see Frank achieving much in the remaining games?

Useless appointment, Frank just had his chance last night and he's blown it. Maybe Boehly tried to appease the fans, like FSG did early on with their Kenny Dalglish appointment.

He should have just gotten someone in early to have a look at this squad and to decide who stays, like Simon Jordan has been saying all along. The players would be fighting for their future, not much point playing for Frank since players know he won't stay.

If they're waiting on Nagelsmann then okay, but Spanish managers like Luis Enrique are desperate for an English job, let alone a top job like this.

Maybe Boehly's waiting for John Tait Robertson to become available...

A footy mate of mine speculated how interesting it would be to have 100% access to a premier league club. Forget your "fly on the wall" managed docs. It would be pretty fascinating to see why Chelsea after spending so much are so rubbish.
I wonder whether Roman's remuneration of the players was more clandestine than we think. And that income has been denied to the latest influx of players and they are a bit miffed. They certainly look motivationally flaccid.

Fiorentina currently 0-3 at home after a first leg 4-1 away win.

AZ Alkmaar currently level as well after being 2-0 down to Anderlecht, plenty of goals about including the two Turkish games hopefully Seville Man U deliver a few shortly.

He's become an absolute calamity.

You know it's really bad when I'm feeling sorry for him!
