Hi
Quite new to this and struggling to get my head round certain trigger and arm points and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.
It’s easier if I just say what I’m trying to do rather than ask about various set points.
So I want to Lay the 3rd Fav InRunning for £10 and then Green Up should it drift out.
I want it to be in the closing stages of the race though so not necessary the 3rd Fav on the off. Im looking to catch the actual InRunning 3rd Fav at the given triggered point InRunning…not the SP 3rd FV.
I want to use the InRunning 1st Fav as the Trigger once it’s hit 1.5. Again this is not necessary the 1st Fav before the off. It’s the runner that first hits 1.5 InRunning.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

You are going to need TPD otherwise there is no way of knowing whether the race is two furlongs or two fences from the finish.
What’s TDP?Cardano wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:31 am"I want it to be in the closing stages of the race"SOOTY wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:22 amHi

I’m not too concerned about the physical aspects of how close it is to the end of the race whether there be 1furlong, 5, 1 fence, 3 fences or no fences….I’m basically using the fact that the InRunning Fav has traded as low as 1.5 to give me the required signal of the race been at least in the closing stages and the business end of the game. Basically half the field out of the question.
Obviously this is for bigger field handicaps when the SP Fav is well above 1.5 to eliminate such a Bot getting trigger as soon as it goes InPlay

People did this long before TPD emerged using standard timings, and TPD isn't at all courses so an over reliance on it limits your opportunities. It's also the case that TPD means you're reacting to information rather than preempting it using expected volatility to place offers at the limits of the normal range. Together with the in-play delay that means you're considerable behind the action.
OP : What you want sounds quite straightforward and I'm sure Dallas will direct you to an example file you can modify.
Yes I would have thought so. Surely with all the options available on the Automation builder what with all the rules and signals and trigger set points it’s just a matter of getting your head round it.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 11:41 amPeople did this long before TPD emerged using standard timings, and TPD isn't at all courses so an over reliance on it limits your opportunities. It can look daunting at first but start with something very simple, maybe just placing one bet with one or two conditions, and build on it Once the penny drops about how it works you'll be doing things in no time at all. There's a lot of example files that illustrate specific functions that you can pick and choose from.
Automation isn't the easy option though when it comes to making money, it has to use fixed conditions that can't include and sort of subjectivity.
For what you've asked for all you need is your 'Place lay bet' rule applying to 'By position (sorted in order of favouritism) 3SOOTY wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:22 amHi

with a 'Fixed Odds condition' to test
Nominated Selection 'By position (sorted in order of favouritism) 1
back price
is less than 1.5
https://www.betangel.com/user-guide/fixed_odds.html
Then add your green up rule accordingly
But just so you are aware if the race has a clear pre-off fav that starts at odds on or just above, it could often hit 1.5 very early in the race
So you'd need to add in further conditions to exclude races with heavy fav's (ie, those with a fav SP below 4.0)
Or if not using TPD or for courses without TPD as Shaun has said you'll need to use some standard times
There's an example here including a list of standard times for each distance

Will this use the starting price Fav and constantly monitor that horses InRunning price and ONLY that runner only or will it just wait until ANY or (the first horse to trade at 1.5) as the Trigger for the Bot to come to live and start betting which is what I want it to do.
By default the order of favouritism uses the selections current back price - so those instructions above will trigger the rule as soon as any of them trade below 1.5SOOTY wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 12:29 pmThanks Dallas.Dallas wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 12:19 pmFor what you've asked for all you need is your 'Place lay bet' rule applying to 'By position (sorted in order of favouritism) 3SOOTY wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:22 amHi

If ever you wanted to use a different order of favouritism (ie, lay price, last traded price, actual SP, you can change that on the automation tab in your main settings area)

There are some things you can do for scalping Horses in-play.
All the following must be TRUE:
Laying a selection
- Market is in-play.
- Markets back book% > 120%. This usually means there are a number of horses very close togther towards the end of the race and all their odds are dropping compared to others.
- Selections last traded price (LTP) > lay price. That wont sound correct but its because of the time delay and that backers are removing their money from the selection.
Backing a selection
- Market is in-play.
- Markets back books% < 102%. This usually means there is only one horse in front towards the end of the race and only its odds are dropping compared to others.
- Selections last traded price (LTP) < back price. That wont sound correct but its because of the time delay and that layers are removing their money from the selection.
Now, will it work all the time on every race and selection. NO it wont but it should work more often than not.
Peter / Euler actually did an arctile while showing how to use the in-play trader component whereby he highlighted what was happening to the horse way out in front in a race. Obviously be careful if your backing in a jump/hurdle race unless ofcourse you know the horse has none left.
Cheers,
