In different ways Diane Abbott is a disgrace and unfit for elected office, I think she was promising early on but all those decades with no fear of being thrown out by voters can't be good for a politician.
Coming from modest circumstances and getting into Cambridge really is not easy at all. But beyond a certain point these people rely on their expertise and although she has done some good things she's a media disaster. And her assertion that ony black people suffer a lifetime of discrimination is pretty niave and insulting to the community's that she referenced. What on earth was she thinking?

Some famous quotes from the lady in question.

- MP Diane Abbott was branded a racist after she slammed a hospital for hiring "blonde, blue-eyed" white nurses.
- The Labour MP said Finnish nurses taken on because of staff shortages may "never have met a black person before, let alone touched one".
- Hospitals should take on Caribbean staff - they know the language, British culture and institutions.
- Are Scandinavians working in Hospital "best suited to nurse in a multicultural society".
- Every defeat of the British state is a victory for all of us. A defeat in Northern Ireland would be a defeat indeed.

Has she ever met a Scandinavian?

I thought Scandinavia, or Norway at least was one of the most racially tolerant places around. If I was in hospital I certainly wouldn't want her as my nurse. In terms of beauty she sits right alongside Theresa Coffee Cup!

It was just the thought of a Finnish nurse touching a certain part of my body. But you can't blame me for that, Abbott put the thought in my head. :D

I bet he will be popular for saying:

"Bank of England economist says people need to accept they are poorer"

Silly thing to say but it is true. With inflation we're all poorer.

"Britons ‘need to accept’ they’re poorer, says Bank of England economist"

https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... -economist

"The weakness of the pound has also pushed up the cost of imports. Sterling fell to a record low last autumn after the mini-budget chaos, hitting $1.03, but has now recovered to about $1.24. Before the 2016 Brexit vote, the pound was worth almost $1.50"

I see, I think it's sinking in. So for example my energy bill is going up despite wholesale energy prices plummeting from last years high and with the UK having the highest energy bills in the world as of Jan 2023 which the Government can rectify tomorrow if they so wish but can't because people who vote remain are stopping them as they don't want lower energy prices and would rather all the shareholders take home big fat yearly dividends on there billions of pounds worth of profits.

Anyone who voted remain should be hung, drawn and quartered at dawn IMO Off with their heads!

 Can't beat a measured response to a poitical issue.
Beutifully constructed rant as a bonus. :-)

I don't however think prices for most consumer items will come down, they'll just stop going up by 10%.
Supply and demand defines price, so we shall see.
But I think you're right about energy. Wholesale prices have come down but they bought that energy three moths ago so it takes time to feed through, just as rises took time to feed through. Let's just hope those price reductions arrive (and the regulator should be making sure they do).

According to Andrew Mitchall, I'm not breaking the law by not purchasing a TV licence, I'm "testing the frontiers" of it. Apparently, if a law is very old and in your opinion needs updating it's okay to ignore it. :D
