And it was 1.66 when Tony Blah took power falling to 1.44 when 'Goldie' Brown resigned!Archangel wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:38 am"Britons ‘need to accept’ they’re poorer, says Bank of England economist"

"The weakness of the pound has also pushed up the cost of imports. Sterling fell to a record low last autumn after the mini-budget chaos, hitting $1.03, but has now recovered to about $1.24. Before the 2016 Brexit vote, the pound was worth almost $1.50"

More Tory scandal at the very top of Government, it's unbelievable how a rich banker and Tory financer along with a Tory Prime Minister can infiltrate a publicly funded impartial organization like the BBC.

No scandal whatsoever, been going on with multiple political parties for decades.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 10:29 amMore Tory scandal at the very top of Government, it's unbelievable how a rich banker and Tory financer along with a Tory Prime Minister can infiltrate a publicly funded impartial organization like the BBC.

Amazed nobody picked up on it before now.
A citizens purpose is to work hard, pay their taxes, keep quite and die, often without dignity.
It’s just the way things are.
Complain all you want about the UK but biggest scandal in Europe was in Sweden over the way they treated their elderly during Covid. Basically ALL of them were left to die and the most worry thing was the public kept silent. Government and scientists said it was a price worth paying.
If you want a perfect society then your living in the wrong hemisphere.

Which is the correct hemisphere?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 9:13 pmIf you want a perfect society then your living in the wrong hemisphere.
The peculiar thing about this BBC story is the suggestion that Boris is/was in financial difficulty. His old man is minted so how come he needed an 800k guarantor and surely he has property to use as collateral ? There's more to this than meets the eye.

Boris has £6 million held in 2 bank accounts in Switzerland and Austria.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 11:00 pmWhich is the correct hemisphere?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 9:13 pmIf you want a perfect society then your living in the wrong hemisphere.

The reason for wanting the £800k loan was for 1. Keeping someone quiet and yes it involves offspring. 2. Borrowing the money as a loan which could be offset for tax reasons after it was paid into a company which he and his father owned.
Point 1 above could be a bomb shell and point 2 above is done all the time by many individuals.

I was just pointing this particular latest scandal and agree it's gone on for decades but doesn't mean people cannot or shouldn't speak up, to my knowledge it's the 1st time a BBC director has been embroiled in financial matters for a sitting PM that may have had a bearing on his appointment at the time.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 9:13 pmNo scandal whatsoever, been going on with multiple political parties for decades.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 10:29 amMore Tory scandal at the very top of Government, it's unbelievable how a rich banker and Tory financer along with a Tory Prime Minister can infiltrate a publicly funded impartial organization like the BBC.

Whilst what happened in Sweden was heartbreaking it can't be used as justification to condone whatever corruption the Tory's are up to in the UK.
There's no such thing as a perfect society and have never championed one but what I would like is a fair one.
This forum is not a court of law. I bet when you meet a mate down the pub you take 12 independently selected men and women with you.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 6:21 amAnd the proof for all of that from "Boris ..." to "... individuals" is?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 11:16 pmBoris has £6 million held in 2 bank accounts in Switzerland and Austria.

Well there are only 2 hemispheres making up the planet so if one is the 'wrong' one ... Oh you work it out!ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 11:00 pmWhich is the correct hemisphere?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 9:13 pmIf you want a perfect society then your living in the wrong hemisphere.

No, wrong again D27 ... just women!

I know it's not a court of law ... are you saying anyone can say anything about anyone without the slightest shred of foundation?
If you make a submission to a court you need evidence to substantiate the claim. But certainly not when you have a casual chat on a forum or down the pub. I heard how many millions the buffoon made last year on the news but obviously I didn't photograph the TV to use in evidence in case I ever discuss it.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 3:44 pmNo, wrong again D27 ... just women!![]()

Nothing wrong with asking for a reference if you disagree with something but you seem to expect proof of everything.

There are far too many spurious 'facts' on the internet and if not challenged there will be exponentially more. We criticise Russia and China for the misinformation they publish with the intention of changing our thoughts so why not ourselves?
A casual chat on a forum (or down the pub), yes, I agree, but a direct, blatant and firm accusation with malice in a public medium is not a casual chat down the pub with a mate!
