If Ukrainian forces can punch through Russian lines all the way to the Sea of Azov, then any Russian troops west of that breach will suddenly be much more vulnerable, dependent entirely on supply lines through the Crimean Peninsula.

All that would then remain would be to destroy the Kerch Bridge linking Russia with Crimea and attack ships and planes being used to ferry supplies to the peninsula.

That would be the end for Putin and Russia in Ukraine.

But its a big ask, Ukraine will lose thousands of troops and equipment attempting it.

Wish I was 30 years younger. :(

News outlets are reporting that Ukraine has broken through multiple Russian lines to the South and West but is taking massive casualties in doing so. Russia is mobilising its reserves to renforce on multiple fronts inside Ukraine.

I wonder how much stomach the Ukranians will have for large scale casualties. Assuming their leaders dont have the same indifferent attitude to that as the Russians do

Like Russia and China life is considered cheap in Ukraine especially in rural areas. Not saying Zelenski doesn't care about his military or civillans but I suspect he has bigger things to worry about. He needs to show his people and more importantly the West that he can get quick gains on the battlefield given all the $ billions he has received in military aid and support.

It's fun thing - you're criticizing the president, who has 0 tolerance policy to terrorists (no concessions, no negotiations) even if some of the hostages will suffer, but the west takes absolutely the same position in this conflict (screw ukraninans and russians civs lives - we should prove our point, (btw what is the point? Some infantile idiotic idea for total dumbasses that no thirdworlder will ever buy again?) protect our values (is "does not destroy the common energy infrastructure" (the pipes) one of them?). Paradoxal isn't it?

By whom? By you? Their president elected to serve interests of the people, and I guess the peoples first interest is NOT TO FN DIE! Not to die for the fn "values", ideology, any fn disgraceful "carrot for donkey" imposed on them by yours or theirs propaganda.

What exactly you dont get? Tell me, I'll explain. The message is simple - stop criticizing if you share his views, cause, you know, it's kinda hypocritical. You can't sit with one ass on two chairs at the same time. Throw off the sheep's skin and be honest, that's what I want and, btw, that's what I like about Archery (despite he creeps mу out sometimes)) ).

You and folks here are demonizing the president ("he will do this, he will do that"), like he's a pure evil, overlooking sometimes that some "methods" he and/or his administration choose are not original and been used by the west here and there. He maybe had bad teachers.

Ok, I assume by 'the president' you are referring to Putin ?
Yes I am demonising him and his cronies who started this war by invading Ukraine. Hopefully Ukraine can take their country back from the invader, and the sooner Putin is gone from power (preferably dead), the better.

If that opinion upsets you then so be it

He stopped upsetting me long ago, I'm not the fan of his domestic policy and the constitution editing.
But I get upset when someone tries to cover highly pragmatic goals with a fig leaf of virtue. I don't like politicians, especially populist ones.

Is that a reference to the Dambusters? That was my first thought when news of the dam being breached at Nova Kakhovka. We did it first. It was immoral but in the face of someone attempting to subjugate the whole of Europe and Russia was it justified? I honestly believe anything that stopped Hitler was worthwhile.
Breaching the dam at Nova Kakhovka will be etched on Putin's legacy as a totally cynical decision.
