WTF has a bicycle got to do with it? Shouldn't it at least be on its side?
RANT CORNER
TBH I don't consume that much that I have been exposed to that. People will sieze anything that supports their view or gets them publicity.
But your basic point is right IMO. This a high profile human tragedy but we should be respectful.
Then again the publicity this has recieved dwarfs all sorts of terrible things that happen daily and persistently across the world. But that stuff isn''t headline-grabbing
The really sad thing about it is that the 19-year-old didn't want to be on the vessel, had his arm twisted and just went because it was Father's Day.
I wonder if they'll get a refund.

I can confirm 40kmph is enough to topple over a full can of beer and not the best time to take a boat out fishing.
At an automated checkout after scanning my groceries discovered I had forgot my debit card. So left the groceries and walked out the store and somehow it triggered the security guy who asked to look in my backpack.
Will stay away from Asda for a period.
Went home and retrieved my debit card and then went to Aldi.

That's quite normal at the ASDA that I go to. Sometimes it triggers for one in three customers.Emmson wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 7:37 pmAt an automated checkout after scanning my groceries discovered I had forgot my debit card. Don't know much about how PLCs work but I really struggle to understand how shareholders can receive their dividends while the company's losing money and letting the network deteriorate. Presumably we're paying their dividends and the director's bonuses!

The CEO was doing exactly what they were supposed to - extract as much money for shareholders as possible.... The issue is wtf is the regulator doing to protect customers when a company has a captured market and acts in this way.
An interesting comparison is scottish water which is still public owned: the chief exec is on c250k and virtually no debt to speak of v's the English water companies with 60bn of debt and c60bn paid out to shareholders... great if you have been a shareholder though !
