Holy Christ I never thought it was him. Jesus.
It has always beens reported as a star presenter - a household name.
What a silly, silly boy. It looks like he's "guilty" of some very sleazy behaviour. I've never earned that amount, so perhaps the pressure of earning it or the fact that the money rocks up in your bank account every month does warp your mind. But his alleged behaviour looks very sleazy and he deserves to lose his job as BBC anchorman. Staggering really.
He's been having mental health problems.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 6:42 pmIt has always beens reported as a star presenter - a household name.

A 6-figure salary ain't that much in this century. If you're on £1M a year and you pay £35K for an explicit photo ... imagine being on £10K a year and paying £350 - it's still disproportionate!
It's now had an effect on my mental health. Every time I see a really nice-looking bird I can't help wondering, how much would she charge if I asked her for a photo.

Derek, we all starting to worry about you, are you the next scandal to hit and cause Peter to close the BA forum ?Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 7:04 pmHe's been having mental health problems.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 6:42 pmIt has always beens reported as a star presenter - a household name.

I heard he suffered for years, and judging by the surprise from fellow reporters it's probably out of character. There was a female Tory MP, can't remember her name, who escaped prison for fiddling her expenses due to a major mental breakdown, but that was brought about purely by the humiliation and destruction of her career, so no sympathy for her.

What beats me is how anyone could suspect Nicky Cambell or Gary Lineker. That would really be a shock!
Maybe so but he was reading the news a couple weeks ago...Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 9:11 pmI heard he suffered for years, and judging by the surprise from fellow reporters it's probably out of character. Yeah happens all the time. People who seemed to be relatively healthy turn up to court in a wheelchair !
I am always suspicious when I hear the accused is taken ill. Albeit he may well be
Don't forget, licence fee payers like you were paying his salary.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 6:42 pmIt has always beens reported as a star presenter - a household name.

Don't see the point! We paid his salary to do his job which was presenting the news. What he did in his private life didn't change that news and didn't affect if he did his job well or not. He hasn't broken any laws according to the police and the only person complaining is the "young person's" mother. The "young person" themselves has not lodged any complaint against him (though they are probably complaining about their mother who may be a bit short of a few readies!).
To me this whole thing is typical of the media blowing up a storm out of a teacup and ruining a man's life/career in the process. I wonder how many of those doing so don't have something in their lives that would be embarrassing if it leaked out.
That was just a pop at greenmark over the licence fee argument.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 8:02 amDon't see the point! We paid his salary to do his job which was presenting the news. Regarding Huw Edwards, I'm as stunned as anyone. A Guardian journalist spoke to him a week ago and said he was absolutely fine.
I'd have sympathy for him if his (alleged) behaviour was caused by mental health problems but it seems the other way around, his mental breakdown was caused p brought about by he alligatikons servicing.

Sorry, not up to date with license fee tussles.

I'm not interested in his mental health re this issue be it genuine or not. I still don't know what he has done that's so wrong? I can understand the Beeb being sensitive to such activities after Rolf H. and Jimmy S. but they both committed criminal acts. The media storm here brings back memories of the Cliff Richards helicopter scandal and that poor chap from Clifton, Bristol (Christopher Jefferies) who the media wrongly accused of murdering Jo Yeates simply because he had been (wrongly) arrested. He was subsequently released without charge and subsequently won an undisclosed sum in libel damages for defamatory news articles published following his arrest, and received an apology from Avon and Somerset Police for any distress caused to him during the investigation.
Seeing as Huw Edwards has seemingly done nothing wrong I hope he sues The Sun, the mother and possibly the BBC along with other members of the media as Christopher Jefferies did. The only person to win out of this is the so called 'victim' who is quids in!
