Automation - Overnight

In practice mode last night I attempted my first automation for Lay the Draw on a match in Brazil. When looking for outcome today I cannot find any sign of the trade taking place. After setting up the trade via Guardian I logged out of Bet Angel, was this my mistake? do I need to remain signed in?

Yes, you need to remain logged into Bet Angel and ensure you have an active connection to Betfair in order to retrieve updates and send bets etc when required, this also means disabling sleep/hibernation mode on your computer

On a similar note if I set up a rule to run in practice mode do I have to stay in practice mode for it to work or can I carry on trading in live mode?

You can only run in one mode per instance of BA
So once you've set your automation up in practice mode you need to repeat the login process to open a second instance of Bet Angel in live mode

Conceptually just consider BA to be an engine. If you switch off or log out then its no longer running or doing any work. So if you want to run in two different modes at the same time, you leave the first one running and then fire up a 2nd engine.

I understand the slight confusion though. Things like web sites, leaving an eBay bid etc are things that you kick off and it's handled out in the internet somewhere when you switch off. Software like BA is actually just running on your PC so when that's not up and running then nothing is.
