Some experts suggest that the majority of climate damage was done between 1880 and 1990.

They also argue that’s it too late to stop or even reverse its trajectory.

This kind of makes sense if you go back to the start of the Industrial Revolution around the world between those dates.

I’m with Derek on this one, anyone preventing the emergency services from doing their jobs should be given special sentences of between 5 and 20 years in prison. I won’t go as far to suggest they should have a noose out around their necks and stand in a trap door but many would.

What’s done is done. I imagine there will be a global war, possibly ending life on earth as we know it before the worst of climate damage is seen. But I might be biased though as really want to test me bunker.

But the war will be brought on by climate change ... lack of water in some areas/countries and too hot to live ... maybe we should invade Siberia?!

And the world will be a better place for it ... we are the only species that harms the planet. Nothing will be done about climate change ... we say the highest polluters should cut back and the highest polluters say they are just catching up with the advancement the so called 'advanced nations' (such as the UK) gained from polluting! And unless the whole world agrees a plan and follows the plan it will just get worse. All this crap about COP.X and COP.Y doesn't mean a thing ... more carbon is emitted into the atmosphere by those travelling to the summits with their entourages than is actually saved by them putting into action what they agreed because they either ignore the 'agreement' or look for the interpretation that best suits them.

As a species we usually have a way to get round obstacles but countries must be brave enough to impose the obstacles. Look at how quickly the internet developed virtual meetings when the Covid lockdown was imposed. And how about some radical actions ... take one lane of the motorways for railways and force lorries to use it from cargo centres to cargo centres ... copy the Eurotunnel system for drive-on drive-off trains for lorries. Maybe the same for cars ... who remembers Motorail? Again like the Eurotunnel for cars you drove your car onto the train and drove it off.

Until Governments worldwide start to govern for what is best overall for all their citizens climate change will not be halted let alone reversed. It's another of those problems without a workable solution and so enjoy life while you can and I hope you are not too young just now!

I agree. Particularly with your last point. I feel genuine guilt that I wasn't out there lobbying politicians to do something about our impact on the planet and it's climate.
A young person could point at me and say "you failed me and I will have to live with consequences" and I would have no defence.

So Kevin Spacey has been found not guilty by a panel of his peers. Yet another one social media and the press have got wrong and ruined someone's life/career in the process. Spacey has suffered lost reputation and no doubt considerable lost earnings (apparently $33 million in respect of House of Cards). The social media platforms and press should be made to pay for their part in those losses. Also the law needs changing ... his name is detrimentally splashed across websites and news channels but his accusers remain anonymous and can crawl back into the hole from which they emerged. I understand the need to help find others to come forward but when their claims have not held up they must be made accountable in some way otherwise I could point a finger at anyone and say "it was him, he did it to me" knowing I will not pay when my accused is found not guilty. At the very least when a claim fails the accusers should be named.
