A good line from Kevin Maguire. Alison Rose made a mistake letting slip information about Farage that she thought was in the public domain, what about Brexit?
Nothing wrong with a bank saying you don't meet our financial criteria. The issue was the suggestion that they had closed his account becuase his legal political views didn't align with ther values. I (and can hardly bear to say this) agree with Farage. Banks shoud not make judgements about people based on their legal political views.
I'm more staggered by the fact that she disclosed confidential information about a client. It's standard practice for most people and automatic, not to give information away about a company client, and employees lower down the chain who did it would probably get dismissed instantly.
As much I dislike Farage the bank is out of order but not worthy of the news and attention it's getting. She's resigned, she's apologised, banks apologised, just give him a free £50 M&S voucher now and job done.
I must say the government have been superb on this swinging into action immediately now they've discovered it may effect a few MP's and their rich mates but has absolutely no effect on 99.999999% of the general population. There' nothing more pressing at the moment than getting all hands to the pump to protect rich peoples bank accounts
