US Presidential Election 2024
Genuine question, if Trump is convicted in one/multiple cases by June/July next year and is either under house arrest or is sent to prison, do the RNC actually still put him forward?
Also, Judge Chutkan will preside over the case, an Obama appointee, remember DC is 95% Democrat

Yes, they're complete nutters.Naffman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 10:57 pmGenuine question, if Trump is convicted in one/multiple cases by June/July next year and is either under house arrest or is sent to prison, do the RNC actually still put him forward?

A former senior prosecutor reckons if Trump gets convicted, it may not be practical to send him to prison, but he didn't say anything about house arrest.
Just shoot the bastard and have done with it!
He should face the additional charge of defrauding his supporters by spending their donations on his legal fees!

I imagine they're looking at that, it's amazing how he refuses to spend any of his own money
Not been officially charged yet but I imagine they will be in the coming weeks. Seems like Smith wanted to get Trump charged asap. Been reading as well the Judge has presided over most (perhaps all?) J6 cases and often sentences them harsher than what the DOJ proposed. So if Donnie is found guilty it’s looking more and more likely he’s off to prison.

Most experts think sentencing would be after the election, Trumps only hope is to win and then pardon himself.Naffman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 9:02 amNot been officially charged yet but I imagine they will be in the coming weeks. After Watergate, you'd think they'd realise that a US president going to prison isn't that unlikely and make preparations to accommodate the event.
What's happening with Guantanamo Bay? That would be an ideal place to lock up a former US president.

If he ended up there I reckon DeSantis would sign up to work there again

Pence has FINALLY turned on Trump, only because he’s actually listed in the indictment as a key witness. His campaign was already on life support, I can’t see him lasting much longer.
Pence is a crucial witness. He had been keeping notes on the day and with any luck he may have some audio of the phone calls between him and Trump. Everybody else seems to keep them.

How the hell do you prove beyond reasonable doubt that a deranged narcissistic lunatic knew he was lying? Narcissists think what they say is the definition of the truth!!
If only they had a "reasonably expected to know" test you'd be able to strap him to the chair now.

Since when did "reasonable doubt" come into it when accusing a politician?Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 1:17 pmHow the hell do you prove beyond reasonable doubt that a deranged narcissistic lunatic knew he was lying? Narcissists think what they say is the definition of the truth!!

Normally, proving guilt involves a deep investigation of the facts and evidence. But when Trumps says, there's no pandemic, Covid will just disappear like the flu, the Florida sunshine will kill it, you can even kill it with bleach ... this is a pandemic, I knew it was a pandemic before they even called it a pandemic; or when the buffoon said, no parties took place and all rules were followed at the non-existent parties that didn't take place ... I wasn't told [what any 12-year-old would have known] that we were breaking the rules, I was told that [the full-scale piss-up] was a working event; the facts and evidence are plain for everybody to see, way beyond reasonable doubt.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 5:12 pmSince when did "reasonable doubt" come into it when accusing a politician?Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 1:17 pmHow the hell do you prove beyond reasonable doubt that a deranged narcissistic lunatic knew he was lying?
