I agree. 10 v 11 should be a win for the 11. It wasn't pretty or exciting, but England overcame the stupidity of one of their star players. James is lucky. She would have (and may stil yet) been villified had England lost. I have no idea what went through her mind at that moment.

Yes but....they also showed a lot of character playing 40 mins with only 10 men...er sorry...10 women!!!(Will I be cancelled!!). :ugeek: .then not flunking their penalties. Will serve them well going forward.
A pundit on Sky said they were down to "10 woman", four times!

Well they should have. 'You showed character" is what you say to kids on sportsday that come last. Sorry mate but I feel the bar gets set way too low when it comes to what people expect from the so called "elite". Heard someone the other day being praised for their "effort" ffs.

I will say that "stamping" is a dramatic word to use. Looked like a relatively gentle "step" / don't fck with me. It didn't even look like she put much weight on her. Fair enough it's a no no but "stamping" sounds like it was intended to cause serious injury.

I've just seen the incident on the news. That was accidental, she just lost her balance momentarily and needed to put her foot down. ;)

I played the game for 30 years and I would be ashamed of that action. There are no excuses for standing on a prostrated opponent. It's cowardly.

FIFA yet to announce if they will extend James' ban another one or two matches!

That would be stupid for such a minor tap. You should really hurt an opponent for a longer ban.

I disagree, it was stupid and immature and she showed she is far from the "sweet" indiividual that Wiegman described.
I know from experience being trodden on with studded or bladed footy boots is painful and very, very provocative indeed.

I think her apologies are wafer thin. She's afraid of further FIFA sanctions and the backlash from the great English public.

But I guess if you can't cut a 21 year old some slack to learn we might as well all give up.

Spain v Netherlands is a bit early tonight, 2:00!

No matter, never too late for a leopard to change horses in midstream. :D

Never seen an OU market like this before, price flying up but nothing happening on the pitch to warrant it!

If I was refereeing a woman's match, I'd find it quite difficult to pull out a yellow card. One less chance of a date.

Here we go again, I'm hoping they make an easier job of it than they did last outing

I was hoping they'd be 4-0 up before the Arsenal v Forest game started

Columbia are a bit naughty, lots of niggly off the ball fouls looking to disrupt England. Hopefully England's quality will tell the longer the game goes on.
