I sometimes read my own posts.

snap - on the odd occasion, i'll be looking something up (either music or audio related) and find a stream of responses on a forgotten forum and realise that i was involved in the discussion. more perplexing is that i appear at times to have offered knowledge that i only now have a faint recollection of
Some people say that to resolve an ear worm you can sing the song all the way through, and that will put it to bed.greenmark wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:03 pmPlease don't start an ear-worm sub-thread. Any suggestions for how to treat this affliction are very welcome.![]()
Thanks. Tried the first, tried Archangel's amusing ploy of replacing the current ear-worm with another. Neither works.arbitrage16 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:29 pmSome people say that to resolve an ear worm you can sing the song all the way through, and that will put it to bed.greenmark wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:03 pmPlease don't start an ear-worm sub-thread. There are others who say that the lyrics of those songs are things your subconscious is trying to make conscious.

Thankfully, it replaced "Boogie Nights" - arghh.....greenmark wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 11:05 pmThanks. Tried the first, tried Archangel's amusing ploy of replacing the current ear-worm with another. Your 2nd point may be the key but I have no idea what my subconcious is trying to tell me. There is no pattern that I can see - other than, flipping get up and do SOMETHING UNTIL I SHUT THE F*** UP!!!!It's not a big problem though.

That's a coincidence. I've just reached it now in my trawl through old music. Entered the charts 22nd May 1977.jimibt wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 9:18 ami've had "Disco Inferno" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5lSeYd_riw) running thro my head ALL fckn week. we live in a small village by the coast in SW scotland (Auchencairn - recently moved). this place is a real nature lovers paradise. BUT, we've met quite a few visitors this summer who have been coming here for years and one story that caught my attention was of a couple who'd been coming for the past 20 years. they said that they have habitually camped on the shore on top of a raft of clam shells (i.e. a beach formed of sand and shells). However, the past 2-3 years they've seen the shell 'shelf' decline/recede to the extent that they can no longer camp on the shell base. I'd always imagined that shell beaches are formed of historical shells, but turns out, they are kinda 'alive' and reflect the seas' larder. these guys were certain that somethings afoot and I trust their viewpoint, given that they've been regular for so long and are seeing this drama unfolding.greenmark wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 9:58 pmAnyone notcied a dramatic reduction in birdies this year. I mean the normal dawn chorus and twittering through the day is like 10%, apart from the F***ING pigeons coo-cooing.
But anyway, apart from my pigeonist views, the most prolific this year have been the tough, smart ones.
Pigeons, crows, blackbirds, magpies. All the finches etc have vanished, not even sparrows. And a robin is a treat. This ain't normal.
I holiday in East Fife 3 weeks a year and we noticed in May the number of little snails along the path was far higher than we've seen. We wondered whether that was due to avian flu reducing their normal predators.jimibt wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 12:01 amwe live in a small village by the coast in SW scotland (Auchencairn - recently moved). this place is a real nature lovers paradise.
