If you're gonna kiss a girl in front of millions of viewers, it's not a good idea to have both hands on the back of her head stopping her from moving away.

It looks like his days are numbered. As he won't go and won't be sacked, they're taking it to court/tribunal.
If I were in his shoes, I'd have contained my urges until I was with them in the changing rooms and they've downed a case of champagne.

"I want to clarify that, as seen in the images, at no moment did I consent to the kiss that he gave me, and of course, at no moment did I try to lift the President. I do not tolerate that my word is questioned and even less that words that I didn't say are invented."
That should do it. I thought it was quite daft claiming that she lifted him towards her. I didn't see the vid but I can't imagine that happening.

On the other hand, how many times have you a male footballer, in a moment of elation, kiss a teammate precisely in that way. They had just won the World Cup.Derek27 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 8:11 pm"I want to clarify that, as seen in the images, at no moment did I consent to the kiss that he gave me, and of course, at no moment did I try to lift the President. But a guy in his position in England and most other counties would expect to lose his job if he did that. Different culture?
I think it's mainly his position, as well as opposite gender. I'm sure he would have got away with kissing her on the cheek without consent, no problem. But celebrating the goal by holding his crotch, behaviour the like of which I haven't seen since my school days, suggests he doesn't have any filters when in public.greenmark wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 8:19 pmOn the other hand, how many times have you a male footballer, in a moment of elation, kiss a teammate precisely in that way. It's much the same as in an office, a dispute between peers is an entirely different level to a dispute where there's a huge gap in seniority.
I heard a Spanish football reporter say that kissing without consent amounts to "sexual aggression" so I'm guessing that's why he's claiming that he asked her for a kiss and she said okay. It seems odd to me that you've just won the world cup, completely ecstatic and you have to negotiate a kiss - you don't see men doing that when they've scored.
