She was just a brilliant poltician, it's just I hate virtually everything she did.
My initial thought was WTF??? But then it made sense. I thought Kayleigh McEnany was a brilliant spokeswoman, I just hated everything she said. :)

Being a politician is a skil. To gain power and implement your ideas. Thatcher was brilliant at that. I just happen to disagree with just about everything she did and the way she did it. But anyhow enough said.

Let's just say we have different ideas of what a good politician is. I would regard your actual policies as part of it. There are probably a few qualities she had, like managing her party, her authority, decisiveness, accepting no nonsense, but I could say the same about Hitler. :)

I understand. But that song came out while she was still in power. Costello wasn't assasinated or imprisoned. Hitler or Putin would crushed Costello for such naked criticism.

That certainly makes her a decent and honest person, not ordering the SAS to take him out over a song.

I'm no fan of Thatcher her withdrawal of subsidies from the construction industry made me redundant and ruined my boss (ironically a self-made entrepreneur). Her dealing with the miner's strike nearly led to civil war. Her attempted introduction of the poll tax created civil disobedience and she backed down. Toxteth, Bristol and Tottenham riots were all a response to her poicies. But she was a waterfall and carried on.

I love it when a Tory MP resigns and stabs the PM in the back. I wonder how many Tory MPs have a back pocket dagger with Sunak's name on it.

She was right though on many aspects

I especially liked the bit, where she said there have been 5 Conservative PM's since 2010, and none of the previous 4 lost their jobs after losing a GE
That's an absolute farce and shows how the Tories have deep problems internally. They are a greater enemy to themselves than Labour

As everyone knows I'm left of centre, but the Tory infighting is worse than the stuff Major had to endure.
Calling 3 of your cabinet "b*****ds' is hardly are harmonious situation.
But what strikes is the bitterness and lack of dignity with which BJ et al left the stage.
Imagine going to a job interview and trashing your previous employer. So negative.
I should probably revel in it, but if and when they become the opposition they'll need to unite. A disorganised inward looking opposition helps no-one IMO.

Politically, we are a very stable country compared to others (like Italy for example)

Our governments tend to go in cycles (or they have done for 40 years)
The Conservatives came to power in 1979 and stayed for 18 years......predominately due to how terrible Labour were 74-79

Once people decided Major was an awful leader and we needed change, Labour ruled for 13 years

Then we got fed up with Labour and the Tories have now led for another 13

We don't have much chopping and changing, which creates stability

Home Secretary says no crime will be considered "minor" by the police. I'm reporting that chocolate bar wrapper outside my flat.

Does that include saying women cannot have a penis?
The police seem to be arresting people for farcical misgendering these days

James Cleverly has raised human rights every time he's visited China, and he's going to do it again. That will tell 'em. :)

I agree with him. I'd rather we deal and talk with China than not. Being grumpy and taking a high moral stance doesn't help. Sure, if they invade Taiwan the s**t will hit the fan. And their increasingly authoritarianism is disturbing and smacks of the Putin situation. People with power focussing on cementing that power even further. Very worrying.
