Is anyone else having problems with Betfair Live Videos on races from Sky Sports Racing? The screen looks different so I'm guessing they have updated the video feed. Any ideas?

Ouch! Guessing the 2021 increase may have been more people at home/covid being having a bet. I think there's just more options for people nowa days especially the younger generation, crypto for example. It's also marketed very well towards young people with youtubers/instgrammers/influencers etc

Bet on a horse that some middle aged man in a suit on ITV says is going to win or buy some crypto that you see some influencer telling you to buy while in their pool with a cocktail that was bought from crypto. No brainer for them isn't it  and when they do fancy a bet it's spins/casino style gambling with traditional betting taking a back seat.

Thank you, Shaun. Expected that for uk markets, but aus markets decline - that's unexpected!
I regularly read that horse racing is doing well there, maybe it's a taxation problem.

Good info Shaun - makes you wonder how long Betfair in Australia will last if this keeps up, and I can’t see it changing with the racing taxes getting bigger.

Yeah aus numbers in decline is a concern but I'm not up to speed with their economic situation.

I think it's brighter news for the UK, a drop of 6% is within the variance you'd expect but obviously +6% would feel better.

In both regions the number of betting transactions is up, meaning it's as busier but the avg bet size continues to fall. Perhaps an indication there's more automation being used as that's typically more but smaller bets than manual trading.

Peter (or anyone else) Re the UK and Aus horse and greyhound racing stats I posted, would you be able to post comparable stats on the other major sports? My data for football, tennis, cricket, golf etc is too patchy to derive it.

Good info indeed by Shaun.

£2 in 2008 when everything changed on Betfair would be £3+ in todays money.

Britain was still a reasonably affluent country back then too.

The "-08" refers to Aug for each of the years. 2019 is as far back as I have.
