I was half-minded to ask to see his food safety certificate.

I'm interested to know where he got the bicycle from, and if stolen, why hasn't he been charged for that as well?
But he's a nobody that is splattered across the media. My question is why the attention? That's a serious question, not a derogatory suggestion that he is some sort of low life or even that the media are not jusitifed in focusing on his story. I just don't see the reason that the story is so high profile. It's barely worth a mention in a local rag, neverr mnid mainstream media. Perhaps I have become demented and can't see the importance of this story that is blindingly obvious to everyone else.
I think the interest is in the prison service failure rather than the individual case. He's on trial for terrorist offences, he wasn't put in a high-security prison, he was trusted to work in a kitchen with knives, and most importantly, the prisoner intent on constructing a bomb and place it on a packed commuter train might be making his escape as we speak.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 1:54 pmBut he's a nobody that is splattered across the media. And yet he appears to be a threat to no-one. Resourceful? Perhaps. But evidently a bit on the thick side. He will now be banged up for longer as a result of going on the run. If it was a bid for freedom it was dumb. Any halfwit would realise they would be caught and face longer in jail. They are always caught (apart from the hardened crims with connections that are willing to hide them). He doesn't seem to be of that profile at all.Derek27 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 2:12 pmI think the interest is in the prison service failure rather than the individual case. Planting fake bombs and obtaining information (presumably unlawfully?) useful to terrorists puts him in the potential danger category for me.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 2:28 pmAnd yet he appears to be a threat to no-one. Getting divorced doesn't mean you didn't know your partner or made a mistake. People change, in my experience, from being really nice to being a flipping narcissistic bitch.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 4:56 pmA good friend of mine did once say you can never know another human being. She'd been married twice so her opinion had some credence. The weight of the way this guy has been described seems to describe someone that is really rather nice. Not a stereotype nutter by any means. But anyhow he escaped, got caught and will now spend more time in clink as a result. Not the brightest bulb in the box?
