Hi,
i'm having trouble with setting unmatched automated bets to 'keep'. For convenience I want to place bets unmatched and set to keep as soon as they're placed rather than when market goes in play.
I've got a 'keep all' rule set to always armed and allowed to trigger 1 time. I expect the unmatched bet to be placed with keep as soon as I set the automation rule, but it's only placing to cancel at inplay. However, if I go back into the rules file and hit 'apply' again, it then correctly places the unmatched bet with keep. I'm not changing any part of the rules file. Any idea what's going on?

Assuming you have no conditions on it, having it always armed and set to trigger once means it will trigger the instant its applied to a market and it's refreshed - irrespective of whether you have any unmatched bets in the market or not

You need to either have it trigger once after the last bet has been placed, or set it to trigger multiple times and have it re-arm at regular intervals.

You could also add some conditions to it, ie, a number of unmatched bets condition and test there is greater than 0 on the market

I do only want the bet to be placed once and as soon as its applied to the market, only problem is getting it to set to keep at inplay.
Strangely if I remove the automation rule with an unmatched bet still in place, and then re-apply the automation rule it will then correctly place an unmatched bet set to keep.

When is the bet actually placed and when do you apply the Keep unmatched bets rule to the markets?

If you are placing the bet manually why not just click the 'keep unmatched bets' button afterwards?

Placing the bet, and setting existing unmatched bets to 'keep' are seperate things. You can't place a bet that already has a 'keep' status using BA as far as I know. It doesn't matter how often you submit a 'change unmatched bets to keep' instruction so you could just have that firing repeatedly to sweep up any subsequent bets you place, or as insurance if for some reason the first 'keep' instruction arrived at Betfair before the unmatched bet was actually processed by then. You can't change a bet to keep before Betfair have acknowledged it as on their system.

Thanks for this, I didn't understand that bet persistence couldn't be defined at the same time as bet placement. Got it working nicely now, thanks for your help.
