Gambling Review White Paper update
I dropped over £5K on the national and was down about £4K on the day and no contact, had other losing days of £2K+ since but luckily I haven't needed to deposit any cash. I'd reckon it's all down to deposits especially if those deposits are large or large in comparison to your pnl.Euler wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 12:20 pmSomebody I know lost about £3k in a day and didn't have any large losses to that point. Up about £50k in total, but didn't need to deposit and hasn't been approached.
So maybe it's deposits that are the key, or a loss and a deposit sets off a trigger somewhere.
I have no other income so can't imagine I'd pass their draconian limits now if I need to deposit. Probably best to maintain a healthy and workable balance if you want to keep your account these days.

I'd be surprised if exposure would have any affect on affordability checks. You can open an account with £100 and they give you a £5K exposure limit.

"knowing Betfair"? It would be crazy if it wasn't automated.
Given that there's still no clarity from the GC I think Betfair have been upfront in saying what triggers their interim solution (albeit off the record). And equally upfront about their dislike of the whole situation being at least on a par with ours. When it comes to this topic my enemy's enemy is my friend imo.
So it must then get automatically raised depending on how much balance you keep at BF, maybe by something like 5K increments.
I've been wanting to raise my own exposure limit further for a while since I keep bumping against it but did not want to risk any affordability shenanigans by asking for it.

Currently the probability of a fruitful outcome is low. Sad to say it but the only hope left is the likes of Entain & Flutter taking it on, they have the biggest cards to play. Just depends if they want to play them or there more bothered about America to even care.
Racing could possibly of took it on early doors but the BHA hung their hat on the betting levy review and only just realizing the government will shaft them. Bookmakers ain't going to accept paying a higher levy or indeed even the same levy when affordability checks will impact turnover and profit.
What a pickle.
I'd be very surprised if they updated it automatically, it certainly isn't consistent with gambling awareness and looking after their customers. Remember, some people exhaust their full credit, default on their debts and then blame the banks for giving them credit.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 4:12 pmSo it must then get automatically raised depending on how much balance you keep at BF, maybe by something like 5K increments.

My exposure limit is 20k, I asked to raise it and they did within a few minutes, amazing I can only deposit £100p/m but can bet up to 20k at any given timeDerek27 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 5:07 pmI'd be very surprised if they updated it automatically, it certainly isn't consistent with gambling awareness and looking after their customers. When interest rates were rock bottom my Betfair account had about £80K balance which is at least 10 times what it would be under normal conditions. My deposit limit was £100/month.
I've been a professional gambler since the early 90s with no official income.
When interest rates began to rise I thought it would be a good time to have a chat.
I emailed Mr Jackson and was given a £5K/day deposit limit.
I've had losing runs of £15K and £22K in the last twelve months and never heard a word from Betfair.
I've only recently started paying 40% PC again.
Deposits are infrequent but always result in a phone call from Betfair.

That's pretty funny when you put it like that. Good to know, thanks.Naffman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 6:17 pmMy exposure limit is 20k, I asked to raise it and they did within a few minutes, amazing I can only deposit £100p/m but can bet up to 20k at any given timeDerek27 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 5:07 pmI'd be very surprised if they updated it automatically, it certainly isn't consistent with gambling awareness and looking after their customers. I'd ask to raise it whilst they're in a good mood, Kai.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 6:44 pmThat's pretty funny when you put it like that. I asked for mine to be raised from 25K a few years ago and they wouldn't do it, said based on my history 25K was enough. Was well before any affordability checks and was so I'd be able to seed more markets. Ridiculous as my Exchange Games Wallet limit is 100K and I've never even used it.
