Was thinking of going to Santa Anita for above meeting
over the 2 days- 3rd and 4th of November
Does anyone have any advice about travelling to and from UK
Did a quick scan and Virgin Atlantic either do direct flights to LA
Then its about working out travelling to Santa Anita
( about2 hours by public transport I gather)or inderict flights to few USA airports then onto Burbank (2 flights with 4 hourish wait between flights )
Also , would it be best to stay near the course the Thursday and Friday eve then LA
or Burbank area evening prior to departure?
TIA
Breeders Cup
Plenty of flights into LAX and at the moment they are not too expensive.
It's really easy to get to Santa Anita and there is loads of parking. There is a massive parking lot outside the grounds. I've never tried public transport as there isn't much in LA. I've always hired a car when I'm there.
It's within easy reach of most places in LA so you shouldn't worry too much about where to stay, but the traffic in LA is bad, where you are and wherever you are travelling. You just have accept that.
I stayed near the beach when I went and it was easy to get around and to Santa Anita. I like staying near the beach rather than the urban sprawl that is LA.
If you want to be in a classic bit of LA lifestyle stay in El Porto or further south on the beach. You will be just around the corner from the airport.

As Peter said the parking lot is huge, I went in May and I'd say the lot was only 5% taken.
I stayed nearby in a motel but we just wanted to be close for the next day as LA is so big and so busy (they drive like maniacs too).
Easily the best racecourse I've ever been to.

FWIW, one of the CEO's used to be a Betfair punter/trader.
Was chatting to him at a recent funeral (his dad's) - his best ever race win, in-running on Bf was 135k.
Was a while ago ...
Sanata Anita is worth going to - but expect it will be rammed.

I've just seen an interview with Jessica Harrington about her horse getting scratched yesterday, she didn't seem happy and not surprised when I've looked.
All that money at the Breeders Cup and they check the horses in what looks like the equivalent of a rundown backstreet garage for horses. I understand the horses get 3 checks a day but that's a disgrace.
