What do you guys think? How weak is the betting likely to be? I think I remember it being poor in previous years but I don't have the figures etc to be sure like some of you guys
Tuesday 30 August
No I haven't skipped a day, I was just planning my week and working out which day to take off and wondered whether tommorrow is likely to be worth doing, normally I wouldn't touch the day after a bank holiday for obvious reasons as people tend to have blown their betting cash on all the races we have today (monday) - but it doesn't look like too bad a day to me with 2 of the 3 afternoon cards being on RUK (Goodwood and Epsom) and all 3 being flat cards, the jumps cards we've had recently I've found to be poor and there's more of that other days in the week.

Bank holidays can work but are tricky. I think the Tuesday card looks better than normal but not great. You have this twilight stuff this year which is going to cause a few problems. Therefore I would prefer to skip Wednesday than Tuesday. At least you have three cards in the afternoon.
that's my profit distribution by day's of the week:
Fr 3.73%
We 6.04%
Tu 6.76%
Mo 11.38%
Su 14.19%
Th 20.39%
Sa 37.51%
so for me Tuesdays are better than Wednesdays
But the final decision you'll make today after the last race. If I have a good Saturday I'll take usually Mo, Tu off. If exceptional than +Sunday.

I did dabble yesterday after Saturday and it did feel quite nice yesterday. But I guess you have the advantage of not having a wife and three kids. That's the main reason I don't do Sundays. If I was a single guy I would probably do a Sunday in preferance to some of the other days of the week.

Yup, I would prefer a Sunday to a Mon, Tue or Wed tbh but I guess when you have family you have to weigh up your work life balance. You only get to see your children grow up once!
I've often been a great believer of sundays being a good day for trading, think everyone agrees monday is far worse than any other. Nice result andy, well done.... results like that are but a fuzzy dream for me, you turned in one day what i scrape in a month lol.
Why would you say you do so much better on Thursdays than on Fridays? I'd have thought that the number and type/quality of races would be similar...

for previous years the figures are 19% vs 17% and 10% vs 22%... And I had a spectacular loss on a Friday.
Anyway I found Thursdays easier than Fridays to trade. I can't explain why. As well as the first and the last race of the day harder to trade. Not all the time though..

Do you feel you have made the right decision? I have found today terrible so far and wish I had taken the day off but hindsight is a wonderful thinghgodden wrote:Thanks Peter I'll probably have Wednesday off then.
