Have a look at this video

http://www.betangel.tv/video/using-bet- ... connection

Basically you can have 20 requests a second. So if you are running two copies of Bet Angel you would need to limit each to at least 10 per second.

Therefore if i limit to one per sec i can have twenty instances running then, without fear of data charge,is this correct?

one reason is if betfairs api fails, gets very sticky etc. you can simply switch from an api mode to a non api mode quickly. this used to be a very regular occurance most saturday's not that long ago.

log into to mode 0 and log into mode 1. untick mode 1 refresh rate, so its not refreshing.

api gets sticky/fails. untick mode zero refresh box so no longer refreshing.

tick the refresh rate box on mode 1 so it is now refreshing, close/get out of your position, or continue trading very quickly.

Hi
Just a comment about data charges in general...
I run my BA at 20 req/sec.
I recently incurred a rare charge (only small amount). When i asked for a report to be run by BDP they produced a spreadsheet that detailed my excess data requests for a month and I was very surprised to see that on a daily basis I incurred up to an additional 92,000 (!) excessive count, but never received any charges as my comm and implied commission were offset against the daily charge.

The only reason I mention it is because, had I not been very active (in generating comm and implied comm), I could have potentially incurred many charges (and so could you!), might be better to run it at 18/19 just to be on the safe side

I dont understand data charges, what are they and how do you know what data charges you are incurring. Surely if you pay a monthly payment to your isp then there should be no data charges.. Also can somebody tell me how to adjust them so as not to incur them.

Hi thebarra57,

The data charges discussed here are nothing to do with your ISP or Bet Angel.

They are imposed by Betfair and it is worth knowing about them.

See here for a good explanation:

http://www.betangel.com/knowledge-base/ ... ge-charges

And if you are feeling brave you can also refer to the Betfair explanation:

http://www.betfair.com/aboutUs/Betfair.Charges/

Note that there is more than just data request charges on the horizon if you are successful.

PeterLe, that's quite interesting because I've always had my settings set at 20.

However, I've never had data request charges, apart from the old days of BA where you'd get the occasional rogue program running in the background.

Perhaps I should look a little closer at that

hi Letiss
if you send an email to BDP@ Betfair they will send you a report for say the last month
