To accidentally stray out is fair game but to intentionally walk out of the crease to chat with the other batter, (something all batters do between overs, even the Aussies) was unsporting. A similar event happened in the Trent Bridge Test of 2011 against India when Ian Bell thought the last ball before tea went for a boundary and tucked his bat under his arm and started walking towards the pavilion. When the ball was returned to Dhoni he removed the bails and appealed. The third umpire reviewed the issue and Bell was given out. During the interval Dhoni, the Indian captain, was asked to withdraw the appeal.
He apparently discussed this with his team who were unanimous in agreeing it should be and Bell was reinstated. Obviously India respected the spirit of the game more than Australia do.

Only in your mind. The purpose of the post was to prove that UK MPs don't know what they're voting for. It probably applies to Labour MPs as well, but as they're not in government we don't have their comments on their actions, because they're not in a position to carry out policy.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 5:39 pmBut it's tantamount to lying when you claim your comment was party neutral when it only criticised one party. Yet another example of trying to have a sensible debate with you is very very hard work ... work I am no longer prepared to to put in.Derek27 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 12:57 pmIn case you didn't know, the Tories have been in power for 13 years and it's what government ministers say that make the news, so there are no recent Labour examples.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 9:05 am
Really, so ...
... was "party neutral" ... good to know.
I can understand you starting an argument if you disagree with something substantive that I say, but you're now starting a fresh argument over anything with the slightest perception of bias.

still using the tactic of telling me what's my thinking and always claiming I start the arguments, that's a not very clever defence to try and stop people from questioning your bias comments

I refer you to my previous comments on this and other issues ... get a life.

What is the point of a smart meter IHD (In house dsiplay)?
3 months after install it stopped giving me figures for gas. Bulb went into govt contol and within 2 weeks the IHD was accurate again.
Now Octopus have taken the Bulb customer base. Guess what. The IHD sometimes accurately tells me what I've used in the last 30 minutes, but more often it shows me that yesterday I used what I actually used the day before.
This is bog standard simple IT stuff. A cynic (me) would conclude the private energy companies want to detach their customers from their real time usage.
Result = bonus for the energy company.

Never had a problem with ours, worked perfectly from day one. Our lass was all over it worked out how much everything was couple months later we seen a decrease in usage because we were a bit more conservative. Seeing the cost of things was a bit of a incentive to save energy and money.greenmark wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:43 pmWhat is the point of a smart meter IHD (In house dsiplay)?

Octopus Energy loan flir thermal imaging cameras out (or used to) so loaned one of them and sorted all the insulation, heat loss stuff out for not a lot of money as well so coupled with the smart meter we've seen a gradual decline in energy costs and saved a fortune

I've heard a lot of them only work with the energy supplier that supplied it, which isn't much use. Don't know if it's true but I've heard energy suppliers can disconnect you remotely if you don't pay your bill and have a smart meter fitted.greenmark wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:43 pmWhat is the point of a smart meter IHD (In house dsiplay)?

For me, an electricity smart meter is useless as I use the same amount all year round, but I wouldn't mind having a gas smart meter. It's the only thing that really fluctuates if you have gas CH and you can turn the CH down if you think you're wasting gas. You can't turn your oven down to save electricity or your food won't cook.

I hope she wasn't ticking you off every time you left the lights on, that would drive me nuts.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:58 pmOur lass was all over it worked out how much everything was couple months later we seen a decrease in usage because we were a bit more conservative.
