Sunak has just sacked Braverman, what a nasty piece of work she is. Sacked by two different Prime Ministers now.

The Tory circus continues.

Not a nasty piece of work. She was right, she simply said what was true

Sadly, Social Media has turned people into wet lettuces. People are lacking the backbone to accept strong politicians with strong views anymore.

Criticising arrogant, incompetent idiots is not spreading hate. The country has been run by the Tory party for 13 years and we're a joke. Look at the FTSE compared to other stock exchanges.
It's Labour's turn to cock things up now.
I'm pretty sure he has volunteered in comments that he hates them but I suppose a confession does not automatically mean guilt.
How would you assess the last 13 years of government? I ask because from your previous posts your background is one of forensic precision.
To me, the last 13 years is flipping chaos. But I'd like to hear your opinion. And that's a genuine request.
I second this request. Can't wait to see him blame social media, immigrants, Brexit - whose fault was that again? - the war in Ukraine, covid, etc.

When anyone with an ounce of intellect or memory knows the truth - Cameron screwed up royally by implementing austerity. He totally misread the markets at the time, thought austerity was the right way to go - anyone who was paying attention/knows basic economics could see that was a stupid move - promised not to underfund NHS and schools and then did precisely that, and so laid the foundation for what we see today.

This society is crumbling, and the people at the wheel - the Conservative party and their supporters - will do anything other than put their hands up and say "yeah, we got it wrong, and then made things ten times worse."

The level of incompetence and poor leadership is on display every single day - someone who is promoted to home secretary with that kind of record, I ask you. But it's always someone else's fault.

well that's difficult because to say something was poor you have to have something to compare it against and the one thing you can never know for certain is what someone else would have done and what the outcome would have been. Would others have done better? If so then you have to say "could have done better" but maybe others would have performed worse in which case the assessment would be "great job, avoided X, Y and Z". On the face of it I would say "could have done better" but what would Sir Flip-Flop Hindsight have done with Brexit, Covid et al. Some are jibing about Truss and the increase in mortgage rates being her fault so I guess the increase in mortgage payments for EU, USA and other house purchasers around the world was also down to her or could it be that world markets, not UK markets in isolation gave rise to the increase in interest rates ... that's a difficult one for the anti's to comprehend. And could they have handled Brexit better, yes they could but the Remoaners didn't help. How would your football team perform if half the team played with a mindset of wanting the other side to win? I heard the other day that our exports to the EU countries is now greater than it was pre Brexit. But don't bother telling the media, they won't use it.

Trade 1999-2022.jpg

Inflation is a big one and while all countries have inflation problems ours is highest of the mainline countries but lots of economists blame the BoE for much of that, they were too slow to raise interest rates and when they did they were too pussyfooting with small increases. If they had been bolder the impact would have been more immediate and the £ would have benefited against other currencies.

I don't blame the Government for energy prices. They are determined by worldwide supply and demand.

But back to where I started. Yes, I would have hoped for things to be better but I have no confidence the others would have done better all things considered because they spend 99% or their time telling us how bad the Government has been and only 1% defining what they would do and in outline only. As we know it's a lot easier to say "we will stop the boats" than to actually stop them.

Labour's current stance is to say "we will do better" without defining how other than to make bland comments such a "we will negotiate with France" when it comes to the boats or the EU when it comes to Brexit. But what makes them think they will have more success ... France has no incentive to stop the boats. Indeed they have introduced border checks with Italy to stop the migrants crossing into France so does Labour really think the French will stop them leaving! As for the EU, for what reason does Sir Flip-Flop Hindsight think the EU will give him what he wants, does he not think we have already tried everything other than taking us back under EU control which is what Sir Flip-Flop Hindsight wanted after the referendum.

Sir Flip-Flop Hindsight will probably become Prime Minister and the fun will start! Let's see how he performs when his policies and actions are placed under the same microscope that examines the current Government.

Agreed and they take words out of context, twist them and then claim something to be said that was not said. Latest example is the comments re the homeless. She said those choosing NOT to accept help are choosing to keep a homeless lifestyle ... which they are, it's as clear as the words. But the media and the anti-governmenters launched a bandwagon and everyone jumped on.

I must admit I'm drawn between taking the time to respond in full or consider it's just not worth discussing with someone so biased and hateful. I'm going to choose the latter and refer you to my response to Greenmark's request ... we don't know what others would have done so we don't know if their actions would have been better unless of course you (and the Labour Party) have a crystal ball.

David Cameron has been appointed Foreign Secretary, I'd expect a lot of amusement and scorn at this move .

this is the EXACT quote tbh:

4 November 2023
"We cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice."

That social media post came amid government backroom wrangling over what would make it into this year's King's Speech. Mrs Braverman reportedly wanted to impose fines on charities who give tents to rough sleepers.

Her push to get the police included triggered an internal row with colleagues. The idea was not included in the speech.

Because you have no argument and won't accept where the responsibility should go for the shit show. Thirteen years of mismanagement, but somehow it's never the fault of the leading party. Funny that.

You keep returning to this notion of "we don't know if anyone else would have done any better." That is such a weak get out because it's totally irrelevant. There are no alternative histories. There is just history, and in this timeline - the only one we have - the Tories have made a colossal balls up. Admit it and take responsibility. But you won't, because you've had 5-6 decades of stewing in your right wing nonsense. You're too far gone to ever even hope of changing.

Thank god your lot are dying out. Good riddance.

I'd welcome strong politicians especially on the economy, house building, public services etc No issues there from me.

Braverman needlessly inflamed tensions on remembrance weekend which is unforgivable. Then a load of idiots jumped on the back of it to cause trouble on remembrance weekend with no thought for our servicemen or women and their families. Imagine loosing a loved one in conflict having to walk past them idiots. Most of them were doing what they do every weekend bounce about with their arms out like airplanes and at the first sight of trouble shit themselves and back off ingerland ingerland ingerland. Soft as shite and thick as pig shit the lot of em. The same as those marching with Hamas headwear and shouting Anti-Semitic slogans these should of been dealt with at the time a complete lack of respect for our servicemen or women.

A strong politician would of under no circumstances allowed any marches, protests or anything take place on remembrance weekend and said this weekend is off limits to respect our fallen but Braverman decided to use it for her own end to incite trouble because she's a self centered weak as piss politician.

Well it's true that we don't know how better or worse a job Labour would have done.
But I don't think anyone can in all honesty look at the revolving door at No.10 or the evidence of the covid inquiry or the flatlining FTSE and be happy not to explore an alternative.
The issue is really that they've been in power too long and are more focussed on internal party bickering than running the country.
I freely ackowledge I'm left of centre so I'm biased towards Labour and prejudiced about anything any Tory government does. And frankly I was in despair years ago but you then stop caring. But finally another mess-up sidles into view and I get angry all over again.
Hoping this bunch of Torys will find some competence is not credible to me anymore.
The government is broken, the Tory party is broken.
In life you don't avoid untried alternatives on the assumption that they will be worse than what you've got.
As you say - how can you possibly know about a different past. But without giving it a try, how can you know the future with a different bunch? It's only 5 years, what harm can they do?

Whatever your views, even if they were right, you have to consider innocent jews and Muslims who don't have any hate in them get beaten up and killed by deranged fascist nutters, take the one that rammed a van into people leaving a mosque, for example. No home secretary should encourage that, even if she does secretly rejoice in such attacks.
