I didn't realise it was a cabinet reshuffle. I thought they were all casting for a christmas pantomime with DVD Dave [call me Dave] with lead roll.

And odds-on Riski's partner gave him the ultimatum last evening "it's BRAVERMAN, or me, take your pick !!!!"

British politics has nothing to showcase on the world stage.
At least with communism and dictatorship you know exactly where you stand.

She's gone so who cares?
Cameron becomes a Lord so he can be parachuted into the cabinet as Foreign Secretary. WTF is going on? I believe Aec Douglas Home was the last ex PM to be brought back into government. But he was an MP democratically elected.
Have we now reached the point where democratic mandates mean nothing and any numpty can be dropped into the cabinet.
It's incredible!!!!
This lot are totally insane!
Ironically Cameron is the last Tory PM I would rate at all. But he was an idiot.
It's nice to know we could all have a job in the government via a fast-track peerage.
Indeed, I vote for a cabinet including you, Firlandsfarm, Jimibt and more forum members than I can list. So long as Dallas is PM.
I'd have to be PM. I'd make firlandsfarm propaganda minister, I'd make LeTiss equalities minister or race-relations minister, if there is one; Archery would be minister for defence, with his finger on the button, StellaBot would be chancellor, Alex could be health secretary, they'd probably a place in my cabinet for many more forumites.

I'm assuming you're being ironic. Democracy is way better than those two. It isn't easy though. We should all be out there stating our views. That's the motor of democracy. Silence benefits the dictators. They like silence about their errors.

I remember two Christmas's past. I got two unusual Christmas gifts. Life in the UK handbook from my Social Precriber, and Private Eye annual from one of my crazy friends !!!

Guess which one went to Charity :D

Archie. I think you will do a splendid job. At least you have integrity, that's something missing in British politics.

May I suggest that if any step out of line perhaps send them down the River Thames to the Estuary by Dinghy. Or let them camp out at Marble Arch for a week in a Tent

Chris Bryant: Bearing in mind that a very significant proportion of people who sleep rough are army veterans and people who have acquired brain injuries, does the prime minister agree with his home secretary when she says that sleeping rough is a lifestyle choice and if he doesn't will he sack her? :)
Looks like the answer was no and yes. I wonder if Sunak knew he was going to sack her at the time of the question.

Rumour has it that he decided to get rid of her awhile back but had been waiting for Cameron to finally say yes. Personally, i dont hink Cameron will be of help much but i guess the idea is to appeal to the centre of the party who have been departing with their votes/feet during all the by elections.

However, given the plans around getting everyone back to work, apart from those with cancer or terminal illness, depends how much that is a vote winner or loser with so called middle England. I exclude Wales and Scotland from the latter as the conservative party has never been interested in those entities.

A week is a long time in politics, therfore a year, well, we could all be dead by then....

That's a fantastic idea. And I think the ministers from the House of Paedo would welcome that as punishment. All them cute little sheep :D

They could take Harry Bo with them. The fake Duke of Sussex :D

Because you have no argument and won't accept where the responsibility should go for the shit show. Thirteen years of mismanagement, but somehow it's never the fault of the leading party. Funny that.

You keep returning to this notion of "we don't know if anyone else would have done any better." That is such a weak get out because it's totally irrelevant. There are no alternative histories. There is just history, and in this timeline - the only one we have - the Tories have made a colossal balls up. Admit it and take responsibility. But you won't, because you've had 5-6 decades of stewing in your right wing nonsense. You're too far gone to ever even hope of changing.

Thank god your lot are dying out. Good riddance.
Then help me please, I want to learn. Show me where I am wrong and that you know definitively what others would have done, what impact their actions would have had on the country and how we would definitely have been better off. If you can't do that then I would suggest it is you who is on thin ice. And good to see that you don't think Brexit, Ukraine, Covid, world energy prices, world interest rate rises et al never took place.

Russia, China and other big communist economies have switched (back) to capitalist operation. Looks like North Korea is the only one left that fits your economic model ... why don't you move there? BTW how many years have you been stewing in your Marxist hatred?

Not a nasty piece of work. She was right, she simply said what was true

Sadly, Social Media has turned people into wet lettuces. People are lacking the backbone to accept strong politicians with strong views anymore.
Just because you hate to hear something, that doesn't mean the content was hateful.
SM has blurred this crucial difference to many
Agreed and they take words out of context, twist them and then claim something to be said that was not said. Latest example is the comments re the homeless. She said those choosing NOT to accept help are choosing to keep a homeless lifestyle ... which they are, it's as clear as the words. But the media and the anti-governmenters launched a bandwagon and everyone jumped on.
this is the EXACT quote tbh:

4 November 2023
"We cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice."

That social media post came amid government backroom wrangling over what would make it into this year's King's Speech. Mrs Braverman reportedly wanted to impose fines on charities who give tents to rough sleepers.

Her push to get the police included triggered an internal row with colleagues. The idea was not included in the speech.
Jimi, you missed off the bit before your quote where she said "There are options for people who don’t want to be sleeping rough, and the Government is working with local authorities to strengthen wraparound support including treatment for those with drug and alcohol addiction." ... the 'lifestyle' comment was referring to those who didn't want the help, those who had made a choice not to accept help ... it is they who are making the lifestyle choice but the bandwagoners don't want to read those qualifying words because they don't fit their misleading interpretation!

... even if she does secretly rejoice in such attacks.
And I thought we had left the unsubstantiated outlandish lies behind us!! ... All fool me.
