Yep, they will keep milking away at the cash cow that is football because opinions of "legacy fans" don't matter.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 8:36 amThese International breaks are absolutely horrendous, littered with meaningless uncompetitive fixtures. You get the odd decent games but by an large it's 90% crap.
Football is over diluted now, we've got World Cup expansion to 48 teams, Champions League expansion to a 36 team 1st round group stage, expansions already of Europe & Conference Leagues all to squeeze every last penny out of the fans and people are daft enough to pay mainly on TV as all you see is empty stadiums unless the big boys are playing.
Football is in fast danger of becoming the new horse racing with a lot of it becoming uncompetitive dross all to squeeze a few extra quid. Is it really worth it? I don't think so
American billionaires in particular see it as a massive opportunity because they believe others are doing a very poor job at commercializing it, Todd Boehly being the latest one. Even with the exorbitant prices he's been paying he still believes prices are incredible value long term. And obviously it's a massive sportswashing opportunity as well.
Although from a trading POV I like the international breaks to have a break myself since they give you some freedom to balance things out, while daily racing always felt like a 9 to 5 job but it can come in handy as sort of filler markets when needed. But with how the woke trends are going who knows if it's even a sport in 10 years, you could see things like greyhounds being banned as well.
