Why is that even a story, has there been a rule change to finally allow black people to ref?

If there's anything racist about that it's making a big story out of it and using it to get clicks.

If you're good enough you get to ref, race/gender is irrelevant. Unlike punditry where it should be only ex players and managers of the men's game, since the women's game cannot even compare.

I can't remember who it was, but a black manager said at his first match his counterpart shook hands with his white assistant, assuming he's the manager.

I don't know how many black refs there are but there must be something wrong if there is a massive disproportion of refs at top level.
