I dont thinnk Utd's problems are injuries. I think they have a wonky bunch of players that are too powerful.
That team is not a team, it's a dictatorship. At best it's a feud. Either way Fergie was right. The manager is the most important individual at a football club. United are struggling (have struggled) to find a manager that can dominate.Sheesh, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Moyes all trundled in and spat out.

What's incredible is Man U have probably a good 10 points more than perhaps they should. If you look back to games where they scraped a single goal win, H v Wolves, H v Notts For, H v Brentford, A v Fulham, H v Luton, they could all have easily gone the other way.
The -5 goal difference is a much fairer reflection of their performance.

They desperately need a spark, Saka is that player who can give that spark but unfortunately he is getting a reputation for going down to easy especially when it's not going Arsenal's way. That's Arsenal in a nutshell, doesn't go there way the toys are out the pram and that all stems from Arteta IMO.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 3:43 pmArsenal are waiting for something to happen rather than making something happen! If they are serious about challenging for the title they need to find someone who can force a game.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 3:24 pmOther than scoring an early goal Arsenal have been 2nd best. More or less a free lay available on them after the early Arsenal goal
See what happens now the transfer window is open, fine line between intent and desperation in January when clubs do a bit of shopping.
I'm not big on stats but you would probably expect a lot of top teams to generally outdo their xPTS as they find extra ways to win and grind out a result.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 8:04 pmWhat's incredible is Man U have probably a good 10 points more than perhaps they should. Regarding United what I meant was, it's hard to pull the trigger on Ten Hag with no obvious replacement in what looks like a write off season because of the sheer amount of injuries to key players.
We all know they have a myriad of problems and many systemic ones, but what can a manager actually do if the squad he has built can't stay fit and he has to rely on all the deadwood they couldn't get rid of earlier. And why can't they get rid of the likes of Maguire? Because they keep getting scammed in the transfer market, they kept losing out on actual targets to rivals so they always ended up overpaying to appease the fans, first and foremost, it's been a systemic problem for many years now. Like with trading, this daft policy is nowhere near +EV and it's no wonder it's resulting in a negative goal difference overall, absolute shambles.
Daft prices and terrible value for some of these players like Antony/Hojlund and washed players like Casemiro etc. Hojlund just got his first league goal the other day, while Antony is still waiting for his first one. So much pressure on these young guys because of ridiculous price tags, no wonder they can't deliver anything. Even Luton scored more goals and they have a game less, that's absolutely unacceptable.
