If you're the only idiot to buy one, the rest usually get melted down making you a unique idiot with a unique coin, but it will still be worth 50p.

Woke up to another Windows 11 update that restarted my computer without permission and without warning! I turned Win Update off only a couple of weeks ago. Am now trying the @conduirez 'metered connection' falsehood! When is Microsoft going to understand that some people use their computer 24/7 and many users know better than Microsoft when it is OK to restart.conduirez wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 11:56 amIf you are trading using automated software, the only surefire way I know to stop windows from updating is to lie to your computer.
Go to Network Connections - Properties - and switch the option [Metered Connection] to ON
.
then
Go to Windows Update - Advanced Options - and make sure the option [Download updates over metered connections] is turned OFF.
Do the above whilst you are connected to your home and/or trading network.
i spoke with shaun last friday. all is well with him, he's just busy re-modding parts of his house. but likewise, his presence is sorely missed and i did mention that to him last week. i'm sure he'll pop back once the dust has settled!!firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 8:27 amWoke up to another Windows 11 update that restarted my computer without permission and without warning! Going to explore the @ShaunWhite solution of using Windows Server ... where are you Shaun, miss your pearls of wisdom, hope all is OK.
Thanks for the update on @ShaunWhite Jim
Not worth it.
I accept all your general comments about buying keys Kai but these people do come with a recommendation from @ShaunWhite so I think I will be happy to take the plunge for the sake of £19 for Office and £10 for Win 10 Pro ... anything to get away from Win 11 and Office 365 which sends me new versions of the apps even if I don't want them. I risk more than that on a single bet!Kai wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:40 pmNot worth it.
Wouldn't recommend buying from shady key reseller websites, they deal in outright scams among other things. Things like selling keys that were purchased with stolen credit cards or selling the same key to different people etc.
If you run into issues with them they will usually ask for full access of your computer through things like Teamviewer, and not difficult to run into issues since keys can end up used by others or be revoked later etc. Buying "insurance" for your purchase is a scam in itself. Obviously many people will say the keys worked for them many times, but so does laying very high prices.
A similar popular website tried to scam me many years ago when I was ignorant enough but it didn't go well for them. I got the money back and the stuff I wanted for free from legit sources as a result, while they are still taking L's to this day.
Have to agree, Microsoft products may seem a little excessive price wise but they have monthly plans available also. If you take your work or whatever your doing seriously then it's a no brainer to get the legitimate software, licenses and support that comes with it.Kai wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:40 pmNot worth it.

Well, he should have known better when he twice said it was legit herefirlandsfarm wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:56 pmI accept all your general comments about buying keys Kai but these people do come with a recommendation from @ShaunWhite so I think I will be happy to take the plunge for the sake of £19 for Office and £10 for Win 10 Pro ...
Shaun would have nothing to do with pirate software.Kai wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 1:34 pmWell, he should have known better when he twice said it was legit herefirlandsfarm wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:56 pmI accept all your general comments about buying keys Kai but these people do come with a recommendation from @ShaunWhite so I think I will be happy to take the plunge for the sake of £19 for Office and £10 for Win 10 Pro ...: viewtopic.php?p=294187#p294187
A few posts later he said one of his keys was already used and he had to deal with this issue : viewtopic.php?p=294290#p294290
Yes, like Mike just said it's like somebody offering you an annual Bet Angel Pro subscription for 10 quid, there is no guarantee it will work and not a penny goes to the devs.

I don't see how I can find out if it's legit as you put it ... ask them?
There's to much racing anyway, a few abounded fixtures isn't an issue in the grand scheme of things. Still 3 meetings on today so be better than the usual Saturday chaos puts me right off having a bet when I'm watching and one race hasn't finished and another one has started.conduirez wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 1:24 pmSo fed up with abandoned horserace meetings . its 2024 and surely a lot of the solutions are available and a lot of racecourses could be making money to put back into the facilities.
I know not all racecourses own the land but some must, so if they own the land the whole of the centre of the track and any other spare areas could become solar farms selling electricity to the grid all year, this money could pay for the track heating, floodlights, power to the stands etc when needed.
Maybe I am wrong and the technology or the will is not there to come up with a solution.
