Folks, I've been browsing the forum for several months now. I started at the beginning of this thread and I've read through it over many, many weeks. If only it was available as an audiobook!

As you might expect, I was looking for ideas to make me think about my football trading. There are lots of little nuggets of information scattered through the thread, but more than anything, it's been a trip through seasons past, a trip made all the more interesting because I seem to remember next to nothing about anything other than this year's football.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to you all for taking the time to post, and to keep it up when the fancy takes you. More people are probably getting more out of it than you realise.

Damn, that's a pretty good reminder for everyone to keep tight-lipped about their trading and stuff :)

But srsly tho, this is a good strategy in itself, many different traders have posted all sorts of bits and pieces of "data" which probably doesn't mean much scattered across many buried threads

Unless for example you create an actual folder for every poster and collect every result they post along with every interesting remark or trading example showcase etc, then perhaps that could give you an idea of how they approach the markets and potentially where their edge comes from

I still use this strategy of collecting such data even outside trading, when I try to learn something new I cut clips of all the most important bits and it's much easier to zero in on the key aspects of learning a new skill

I'm sure traders automatically store such "folders" in their head more or less, but probably not on the computer

I've been screen-grabbing interesting comments, but I didn't think to sort them by author. I'll start a "Kai' folder with your last post! :P

Hope you like memes!

Unfortunately, threads like the racing one or the rant thread are a lot more popular than the one dedicated to the beautiful game :)

I'm sure there are more people trading football than it appears, but not much point showcasing stuff to make the job more difficult, it's hard enough as it is. Plus "street cred" is not a real currency either.

Generally whatever insight you can glean from others is helpful but for me best way to improve your own trading is VOD analysis.

I'm afraid to post this but Everton have done really well to restrict City to 0 shots on target

Market has pretty much given up on goals

That's the problem playing City you can't go there and go on the attack as they'll rip you a knew one, so you sit back defend like lions but they still find a way through. Can't knock Everton they've defended well apart from Calvert Lewin who looks 5 yards of the pace and been giving City the ball stright back when he touches it. City never panic probably becuse they know they'll break teams down at some point.

To go toe to toe with a modern controlling team like this you really do need some press-resistant midfielders

Klopp has completely changed his demeanor in his media duties since he announced his exit, no more Mr. Nice Guy

He really seems to absolutely hate this part of the job, I think it's the most draining aspect for him personally, which only got exacerbated in downturns of form

Maybe he shoulda done a bit more like Fergie and banned the most annoying journos to set an example and the overall tone

Not sure if he's allowed to give these duties over to his assistant like he does with the Carabao cup media duties, can't imagine what that's like but even when I played Football Manager I would always just send assman to do all the pressers and interviews, because otherwise you're just playing an annoying interview simulator with repetitive questions

They're scoring goals too quickly in Germany.

You know I had the exact same thought the other day ! Hes letting them have it both barrels since he made his announcement. Maybe this was one aspect of the job he couldnt face another 2 years of. I am not surprised really, why managers are required to do all this media work just to provide soundbites to journos seems quite unnessessary

Huge result for Leverkusen if they manage to hold on

Would be quite ironic if Harry Kane doesn't get to lift the title yet again
