Today's Football
I've been watching the game - Maidstone attacking well, rare to see a lower club not park the bus in these games. Let themselves down early with some terrible schoolboy errors. Feel like they definitely had value... I love cup games!
No VAR is a bloody godsend

Agreed. Very overhyped imo. Check out the Liverpool starting XI age vs Chelsea.henbet22 wrote: โMon Feb 26, 2024 1:53 pmInteresting read. Nice to see your thoughts on this. (Not having a dig at you/ Klopp/ Liverpool with the following) The whole "most special trophy" and above "No doubt one of the greatest matches in club's history" narrative is dubious. Coin flip trophy. Liverpool 1.9 ish at the off. Chelsea are 11th and very ordinary. Liverpool are on for a quad. Klopp is far superior to Poch. I think everyone is forgetting its the league cup. If they had beaten a full strength Arsenal or City then fair enough but they were 1.9 and they got up on the line. However leg 1 of the quad is in the bag. Onwards and upwards. Peace out.

Eh, I still like the first narrative better
But before we let Chelsea off the hook and ignore the fact that their squad of wonderkid internationals got outplayed by a team with 5 academy players during ET let's briefly also look at the cost.
Players aged 23 or under used in final:
Liverpool - 7
Chelsea - 8
Cost of signing those players:
Liverpool - ยฃ38m
Chelsea - ยฃ390m
Maybe one thing we can all agree on is that Chelsea got scammed
But no, obviously I would probably agree that for some neutrals etc it's nothing special really, what I said was mostly for LFC fans. It could have swung either way, and that's fine

Yeah price doesnt reflect the players actual ability.Kai wrote: โTue Feb 27, 2024 12:33 amEh, I still like the first narrative better![]()

Cant believe some of the garbage purchased. I remember when Chelsea signed Kezman as Abromovich was mates with him

No doubt they brought in a lot of talented young individuals and some are showing that potential already, but that clearly doesn't instantly make a top team
Scammed in terms of inflated transfer fees and those 8-9 year contracts, how tf are they going to get rid of those that don't work out
Liverpool seemingly took so many L's in the summer transfer window with Caicedo and Lavia in particular so that felt a special W for us seeing how their cheap replacement Endo bossed it, and proud of the teenage academy lads that are tasting senior football for the first time for rising to the occasion and helping secure a trophy for themselves so early in their career
Unsure about Poch but can't forget how many big injuries Chelsea had all season as well, I would probably give him another season
To be honest its a joke how quickly teams cycle through managers.Kai wrote: โTue Feb 27, 2024 11:01 amNo doubt they brought in a lot of talented young individuals and some are showing that potential already, but that clearly doesn't instantly make a top team

Beggars belief how good man utd may have been, had they just stuck with Moyes since Fergie. Multiple managers, none better than the predecessor
The same Moyes many hammers fans wanted out a week ago...

Nice!
What method are you using for the scores and what do you reckon the accuracy rate is?

Luton 13/1 to beat Man City in the cup tonight, is surely great value? They usually put up a good game vs the top sides, and City will have their 1.5th side out.
