Which connection mode do you use whilst trading and why? I have allowed everyone a maximum vote of two modes.

I used to just use 0 all the time but have recently noticed it is not always the best option. Would be interested to hear other Bet Angel Pro users' thoughts.

I don't know much about how the various connection modes affect performance. I have no way of testing two or more modes concurrently so can't really contribute to whether or not performance has worsened with any particular mode.

I started using Mode 7 recently instead of Mode 0 because I thought (probably misguidedly) that maybe most people used Mode 0. I can't tell if it is any better for me or not.

It has to be 0 or 7 for more except in dire circs when I'll connect with whatever works.

From the manual:

Mode Result
Mode 0: Default configuration set by us when releasing Bet Angel Pro
Mode 1: Non API mode
Mode 3: Hybrid mode one
Mode 5: Hybrid mode two
Mode 9: Hybrid mode three
Mode 7: Full API mode

I must be missing something; I just followed the advice at logon that says, "Don't change this until told to do so by support".

Is there any concrete advice on advantages & disadvantages of using the various settings?

From what I gather there is no concrete answer. Some scenarios work better with certain connection modes. It looks like 0 is designed to be the best for most situations, but when the API is playing up or you are trading non UK markets some of the other ones work better. Whenever I have connection problems now I just give another mode a go, it worked for me the other night.

It's usually just a case of trial and error and what works best for you. I would hazard a guess that due to the problems with Betfair's API at the moment it's best to use a hybrid mode.
