TEAM INFO. Novak Djokovic decided to have meniscus surgery this Wednesday morning in Paris. His unavailability should last at least three weeks and deprive him of Wimbledon. His participation in the Olympics will depend on his reaction to this intervention.
Ouch. Meniscus is cartilage and doesn't recover quickly. It did seem to be on the outer side so maybe just a tweak. But it doesn't really fit with Novak's health OCD.

Perhaps he's desperate to represent Serbia above all. We shall see. I'm not expecting him now to be at Wimbledon - but this is Djok, so you never know.

If it is a minor meniscus tear, (quite likely as he finished the match with Cerundolo), he could be playing again in 3 weeks following his arthroscopic surgery. Typically recovery time is nearer 6 weeks but Djokovic will avail himself of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to speed recovery time.

If the tear was on the articular surface of the medial and/or lateral femoral condyles, then recovery time is typically 12-18 months as a bone microfracture procedure is necessary.

Whether Djokovic will have confidence in his knee to play flat out after 3 weeks is another matter.

...hence the reason why they can't have a womens match on for the expensive evening session.

There would be many unhappy customers if their hard earned Euros paid for a 40 minute one-sided dullfest match.

Alcaraz dropped two gears and paid the price. Zverev galvanised. Game on.

Alcaraz 2-1 1 set all. He's barking at his camp like he's winning.

Could be wrong with the injury time out but at 1.85 back it looks value. The danger would be a gear drop at the end of the match to hand it to Zverev like in the 3rd set. Depends who serves first 5th set. Could have a 7-6 or 7-5 scenario on our hands in the fifth. Also depends on the court with the high bounces although that should have passed now. Should be great.

Would have liked (would like) to see him vs Djok. Djok is still a more complex opponent than Zverev.
21, good lord. My biggest concern with him is why wear a support on your striking arm at 21?

"I felt some pain after playing in Madrid, some discomfort in my arm. Today I did some tests and I have a muscle edema in my pronator teres, a consequence of my recent injury. Unfortunately I will not be able to play in Rome. I need to rest so I can recover and play 100% pain free. I am very sorry, I will see you next year @InteBNLdItalia," Alcaraz wrote.

Alcaraz first sustained the arm injury during a training session in Monaco prior to the start of the clay court season. The Spaniard was then forced to miss both the Monte Carlo Masters and the Barcelona Open, but managed to tough out the injury in the Madrid Open, wearing a compression sleeve on his right arm.

It's unclear if Alcaraz will be healthy enough to play in the ATP Tour's second Grand Slam of the year, the French Open, which begins on May 20.
