Been doing a little LTF strategy on the gallops. I had BA automation fire in the bets 1 sec after the off. I noticed that somebody else was obviously playing the same strategy as $22 bets would fire in 20 seconds before the advertised start at the same price, meaning I always had that $22 in front of my $40. So I changed the automation to fire in 30 seconds before the off, putting me in front of him.
Here's the bug.
If there is no previous money at the price, at the off there will $62 to be traded and I am first in the queue (0 in the 'place in queue' column). However if there is money in front of me, when that money invariably disappears at the off, there will be $62 left to be traded, but I will have the other guys $22 in front of me (22 in the 'place in queue' column) ??????? So although I know for a fact that my money was placed in the market before the other guy, he jumps me whenever there is money in front of both of us that cancels at the off.
Any explanation other than a bug?
EDIT: In hindsight, it could be a BA bug and even though it has me behind the other money in the queue, in reality I am still in front according to Betfair....?
Is this a Betfair bug?
The PIQ is important for trading, are you saying that your number in the queue is actually changing at the off.bobalski wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 4:21 amBeen doing a little LTF strategy on the gallops. How can you be sure the other player has not got a fill or kill timer on their bet and it is just cancelled and not taken after a few seconds and it appears their bet was taken.
Me being a bit sneaky, if I was the other guy and see what you had done I would not want to get in a bet timing race. I would do something along these lines but probably a bit more sneakily than this even.conduirez wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 9:58 amThe PIQ is important for trading, are you saying that your number in the queue is actually changing at the off.bobalski wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 4:21 amBeen doing a little LTF strategy on the gallops. I would place a $22 keep bet with 32seconds to go.
With 20sec to go if the first $22 dollar bet was taken I would do nothing, but if it has not been taken, I would put on my usual $22 bet, I would cancel this a couple of seconds later.
I would adjust my risk strategy in case both $22 bets were taken, but after the off there is $62 showing and my $22 is in front of yours, and you are scratching your head.
Because that's not what is happening.
Both our bets are always there when the race goes inplay. It's just that when our bets are the only bets in the market, I'm at the start of the queue, when we are both behind another bet which doesn't go in play, the order is reversed...
This question about PIQ has been asked in similar formats many times, but I do not think it is Betfair, who is altering the queue positions, this would have exponentially more people complaining in this forum. But by its nature position in Queue can only be a guess.bobalski wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 3:27 pmBecause that's not what is happening.

Have you ever noticed the other players bets being taken or nibbled at before yours?

Down the bottom of the page, Bet Angel have a disclaimer, about their estimated PIQ.

Conduirez is exactly right about the queue position can never be 100% accurate, hence the reason it was called EPIQ (Estimated Position in Queue)conduirez wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 3:46 pmThis question about PIQ has been asked in similar formats many times, but I do not think it is Betfair, who is altering the queue positions, this would have exponentially more people complaining in this forum. The biggest factor is cross matching (or in football cross market cross matching), you might think you are at the front of the queue only to see other bets appear to get matched ahead of yours, but these will likely be from another selection/s which were there well before yours now being cross matched on your selection - making it appear someone is jumping ahead
At the price I'm entering the market the bets are never taken or nibbled at prior to the off. When they are taken late in the race they are usually just hoovered up as a job lot.
It's all good, likely just a Bet Angel issue and at the end of the day, it would rarely matter where in the queue I am, as I said, the bets get hoovered up. Just trying to avoid the rare time my pricepoint is nibbled at before drifting out and I don't get matched as I'd obviously prefer to be matched.
