Question in title.

What is the worst that can happen? Nothing? Linked accounts? Accounts shut down? If there is a downside, can I mitigate them with a VPN and/or bank statements that show no history of money moving between bank accounts?

Linked accounts, possibly followed by account shutdown. Using a VPN will still result in the same bets hitting your sibling's account. Betfair use algorithms to link similar trading styles across multiple accounts. I don't know how accurate they are but I would guess they're probably draw attention to a much wider range of accounts than those that are actually fiddling their PC. It's a big risk!

Betfair have sophisticated algorithms that detects trading styles. They will sniff you out and close you down. You can try if you wish, but if you're wanting to be here long-term, I'd tread carefully

I've seen this repeated a hundred times over the years. Is there any evidence that it is true? (Not doubting LeTiss at all)

Yes, a friend who used my account to avoid being affected by premium was closed because she used the same moves and stakes even though she used a different IP at home, and our money was refunded.

If you stop activity on one account then start it up on another. That's the biggest red flag possible.

I also wonder just how great the Bf algorithms are :

If they are so good, why cant they pick-up this blatent (alledged) money-laudering ?

This was from a game some time ago. Notts wanted 40 to win from 80 balls, with 8 wickets left. Probably true 1/1000 chances, yet
50k was allowed to get settled at 1.2

Make your stakes dynamic and also the times you place the trades. Then randomly place some oddball trades.

Not directly linked but I had the same type of issues with on-line poker rooms, bots are not allowed but if you know what your doing then you can successful hide what your doing.

I don't know about Betfair but poker sites install IESnare software on your machine which records, does analysis of what your doing and reports back. You can block that via Windows Host File additions.

I auto play around 10 different poker skins with a hopper across upto 6 tables each, including Betfair, William Hill, 32Red, Party Poker, Bet365. After 8 years now have never had a problem or accounts flagged or monies withheld etc.
