Hi there,
apologies if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.
I have been looking at some of the csv downloads available at https://promo.betfair.com/betfairsp/prices
I notice that on some occasions the IPMIN value is higher than BSP.
Can someone explain to me how this can be possible?

With thanks

BSP, as you know, is the runner's Betfair Starting Price, therefore is the price AS the race goes in play (i think it's the accumulation of bets settled at the off). IPMIN = in play min price (so can occur at any time in the race and occurs after BSP). In short, BSP is neither inplay nor pre race - a kind of no mans land!! Hopefully someone can give a better technical description :)

Thank you, that's made it a lot clearer for me. Cheers

Also, don't forget the IP prices only include bets with a payout of more than GBP100 so is a chance that some odds ranges are missed.

bigfatwallet was referring to the IP prices in the promo.betfair files only, not BSP.

There's nothing nefarious about BSP! I put many thousands through every meeting

I watch it pretty closely and see nothing untoward in its formation. Simple supply and demand, as an exchange should be. It isn't perfect, but it's pretty solid and reliable.
