Is there an alternative to Betfair?

I've been reading a thread about a closed Betfair account and sadly it's not the only one I've heard of.

This got me wondering if there is a viable alternative to Betfair for those of us who manually trade. Is Smarkets, Betdaq or MatchBook any good?

Will there be another home for us as and when Betfair implodes or cannibalises it's own customer base?

I'm not 100% sure its just Betfair that have the problems with account closures. I would think its everywhere, including bookies, etc (I don't really know). Either way you look at it it's a pretty big risk to stake your income on one provider. One wonders why darkmarket gambling exchanges haven't popped up. (or maybe they have and I don't know about it)
