UK General Election July 4th 2024 - Trading ONLY thread
Sunak refuses to say when he told his aide the date of the election, using the old, there's an inquiry going on excuse. But with candidates under investigation by the police over misconduct in office law breaches, if the names come out it could affect voting.

Sir Kier in trouble over comments he made about the Bangladeshi community. Labour HQ worried now that in Muslim areas with slim labour majority that those comments and stance on Gaza could cost them votes.
Somebody on the press preview put it quite eloquently. The question should be why, but it never is why, it's always why not?greenmark wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 8:05 pmThese people have several irons in the fire. Which makes it all the more depressing that they should be interested in a few hundred quid. They have a problem with their behaviour and should not be an MP. They should seek help.Derek27 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 4:23 pmThey thought they'd never get caught.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 3:24 pmNot directly linked to the contents of this thread.
But, about insider knowledge trading, Sports, Financial, Political or anything else.
I do not understand why people are risking their jobs, pensions and liberty over a few undred / thousand £.
In context, today at 3.00pm UK time there was a scheduled major financial information declaration regarding USA Pending Home Sales m/m. Previous was -7.7%, Forecast was 0.6% with Actual being -2.1%.
At 2.40pm UK time the $ started dropped over 200 forex points against all its forex currency pairs. Did someone or an instituion take a gamble or were they passed information regarding that news announcement at 3.00pm.
As a result, a individual or collective has made $billions within 30 minutes or so. Don't forget, insider financial trading carries a mega fine and prison term meaning bankruptcy and 20 years plus sharing a cell with god knows what in the USA.
My point, if your going to do it, then go big and makesure the potential payoff outways the potential downside.

Reform activist used a racial slur against Sunak, and said migrants crossing the channel should be used for target practice.
Unfortunately it wasn't Farage, on this occasion at least. Still time.

I wonder when Sir Kier and Labour win what that means for the UK / US relationship…
The New York Times polling shows Trump ahead in all 7 swing states. Given that percentage of possible voting it’s unlikely the US Supreme Court will allow Trump to be incarcerated until the next presidential election and winner is announced.
Could be fun times ahead….

How come the Brighton Kempton and Peacehaven Labour person was not allowed to stand for this election, he had a majority of 8,500 at the last general election ?

"His appointment came a day after the constituency’s former MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle was suspended by the Labour Party over historic behaviour allegations.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 3:24 pmHow come the Brighton Kempton and Peacehaven Labour person was not allowed to stand for this election, he had a majority of 8,500 at the last general election ?![]()
In a statement released on social media, the MP said allegations had been made against him about alleged conduct eight years ago.
Mr Russell-Moyle disputed the claims, calling them "vexatious and politically motivated".
Taking to social media, he said: "I've been working day and night since the election was called for success not only in Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven but across Sussex. Yesterday, out of the blue, I received an "administrative suspension letter."
"Someone (who remains anonymous to me) has made what I believe to be a vexatious and politically motivated complaint about my behaviour eight years ago. This is a false allegation that I dispute totally and I believe it was designed to disrupt this election."
The labour party seem to just parachute whomever they want into seats when its GE... Whole pile that no one has ever heard of were brought into Scotland as so & so's pal much to dismay of local associations..
