Euro 2024
Indeed, his heart rate for the 1st pen was at the lowest point during the whole match. Although he did get emo after they showed his mum crying on the big screen.
I find this stuff interesting, Klopp spent his last few years collabing with German neuroscientists on these high-pressure situations, and has credited them after pulling off some epic penalty shootout wins etc. It seems to have helped Trent with his freekicks too after practising with all those brain sensors.
Trent needs little help with his freekicks. It's his right back defensive credentials or indeed any defensive credentials that seem untrainable. He's so laid back he gets swamped by the aggression of the opponents.Kai wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 4:12 pmIndeed, his heart rate for the 1st pen was at the lowest point during the whole match. One of the best long passers I've seen though. So good that he motivates his teammates to go flat out to make space for him to drop a pass onto their toes. That skill really does switch a team from stodgy to an opponents nightmare.
Honestly still can't believe people have bought into this media narrative. Liverpool swept through Europe and walked the league by Xmas with Trent at rightback.
Apparently the English media toxicity has greatly improved over the past few decades? But imagine having to perform under this type of negative pressure, nobody wanting to become the next scapegoat.
But I'm hearing some early England team news suggesting another u-turn with Trent, possibly another system change.
Trent's defensive incapabilities did not stop Liverpool dominating several years ago. He didn't really need to defend
The issue over the past few years has been his want. People seem to forget that young Bradley kept Trent on the bench, after he had recovered from his injury.
Trent has plenty of ability. Plenty. But he's just not been that good in a red shirt for quite a while now. He caught the eye at Fulham, but that was probably because he was motivated to usurp the injured Bradley, and steal a place at the Euros.
I don't rate Trent as a RB or a CM currently. But he has all the potential to turn it around still. Let's see

Well I don't think he's a RB. He isn't quick enough or alert enough. If a set piece is coming from the opponent's right it's 50-50 whether he will be aware of someone on his shoulder. Believe me, I've watched him intently. That's not goood enough. And I don't understand why this can't be coached into him.Crumpets wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 1:34 pmTrent's defensive incapabilities did not stop Liverpool dominating several years ago. In midfield he seems to expect he will be given time to take a relaxed touch or two. Nope, no way. Why his coaches are not working on this and his team-mates are thinking that giving him the ball facing his own goal is a good idea baffles me.
But get him facing forward, give him space and runners and he is an exceptional passer. We don't have anyone better in that respect.

ET market doesn't appear to have been turned in-play.
EDIT: Perhaps they don't do that. It's spooked me anyway.
SECOND EDIT: No, it's in-play now.
