Looks like Labour in 2024 will end up with under 10,000,000 votes to get 411+ seats.

Labour under Corbyn in 2019 had a crushing defeat with 10,295,912 votes and only got 203 seats. In 2017 Labour got 262 seats and 12,877,918. Almost 3m more than Starmer's massive majority got.

Final results are in:

Labour total votes fell 5.5% from 10.3m in 2019 (a "Labour disaster"), to 9.7m in 2024 (an "inspired landslide"). Our electoral system is crazy!

Labour share up only 1.6% vs 2019, to 33.7%. By far the lowest ever share of a majority-winning party. Next lowest was Blair's second term in 2005 which was 35.2%.

I like Rory. The fact he didn't see the horror of Truss coming or the insipidness of Sunak is ok for me.
I'd seriously consiider voting Tory if he was leade. My untested view of him is that he holds public service in high regard and has integrity. Remember those high values from way back. Exclude Harold Wilson from that, of course.

Five migrants have been sent to Rwanda over the last two years at a cost of £60M each. I guess that proves the scheme was working and would be a viable deterrent. Migrants would have been queueing up to get here under another five years of Sunak to try and get a small cut of that £60M.

Unlike Truss that demoted a G7 country in the eyes of the global financial community and hurt a lot of people - in 49 days.

I did, I recall he is ex military? Going back a few years, I remember him as a likeable politician with a lot of integrity. Someone I would consider voting for. I thought it was a shame he left politics

That trousers thing is weird, I went for a measuring for a suit for my brothers wedding and the chap insisted on the legs being taken up a couple of inches, so when you're standing the hems are barely touching the shoes. Apparently that's the modern fashion but I found it quite uncomfortable and self conscious.
Rishi's suits are taking the piss though, trousers that short he could just slip his shoes off and walk through a flood and come out the other side with dry trousers

I remember kids taking the piss out of me at school when I outgrew my trousers and they barely covered my socks, so I would feel pretty uncomfortable in those.
